The fair, part 1 - First impressions

These are some of the pictures I took at the fair we went to last week.

The fair is called Zomerfolk and it is hosted by the dutch folk band called Rapalje. It's being held inside a big park in Groningen.

We went fairly early, because we didn't want to miss the first band. Not much of a crowd yet!

but look what I found! My favorite mead stand!

Mead and More makes the best pine mead I've had so far.

We first went to get some coins, which you need for food and drinks at the fair. There was quite a big line there and a few drops of rain from time to time. While waiting in line, the band was doing sound checks and there was this one old man standing in front of the stage already. he was dancing and dancing on the drummer's sound check. that was pretty awesome to see!

After that, we went to sit down under this big tent. Right on time too, because that's when it started to pour! After it quieted down for a bit, we went to get some potato wedges for lunch.

They dressed up the stands nicely with some greenery.

While waiting for our potatoes, the band started playing! It was Rebels of the Sacred Heart, the new band of my favorite singer who used to sing for Scrum. My boyfriend kept waiting for our lunch while I walked to the stage.

He's not wearing a kilt in this band. How weird! His voice is still awesome though.

Just a few more people trickling in. It was still early though, so there weren't a lot there yet. Oh well, Easier for me to see the band!

These mugs you could take home, or exchange back for your coins.

I will leave you for now, with this mug of delicious pine mead mead. I've still got some more pictures to go, but for now, this post is quite long enough.

More later!

Whoa, I've never even heard of pine mead. Looks to be a rarity in the US.

It's not at all well known here either. There are only a few places I've found where I can get mead. Basically I have to order it online, or visit medieval/fantasy fair to get it :-)

Nice tour! Is that parsley? Yum! ;oD

It looks like it, doesn't it? :D

Looks like a lot of fun! did you keep the mug? :)

It was! No, not this year. Maybe the next! I still have one from last year though ^^

Ah alright then. If you already have one it's not as important. :D

Beautiful! You sure had a great time. Followed!

We definitely did! Thank you :-)

beautiful mug <3

Aren't they? I brought one home with me last year, but most of the time, we just hand them back in :-)

I thought that was a pot
