Good morning Steemit

Do you know what I like about winter?

It keeps all of the rude, useless people inside at night.

I understand wanting to enjoy the nice summer weather by sitting outside in the evening. However, when you stay outside a long way into the night in the middle of a residential area with lots of families and small kids, where you get louder and louder, making you hearable even through earplugs, I'll think you're a waste of a human being and I will hate you for all eternity. I mean, there are places you can go if you want to stay up late, get drunk and shout at the world. It's called downtown.

I've been 'lucky' enough to have been surrounded by plenty of these kind of people in my lifetime. A crazy girl living above me, who ran through the halls, screaming her lungs out in the middle of the night. A blind guy below me who always had friends over in the middle of the night on weekdays, shouting and laughing. If it weren't friends, it was his loud-in-the-sack girlfriend in the room right below me.

People like these have made my life a living hell in the past. They made sure I didn't get any sleep during the night, basically making me feel frustrated, stressed, powerless and miserable in my own home. They are the reason for me buying a house at such a young age. They are why I vowed to myself never to live inside an appartment building ever again. And they are the reason why I now have zero tolerance for noise.

So when my crap neighbourhood starts showing its true colors again, you'll understand I get a little bit mad and stressed. I know on summer nights, I need to wear my earplugs. I know I'm a light sleeper, so I accept this. I can't blame people for wanting to sit outside. Once I start hearing them through my earplugs though, I know the fault is on their end. I mean, they even turn up the volume of their music more and more, the deeper into the night we get. They are horrible human beings with no regard whatsoever for the world around them. Sadly, my neighbourhood seems to attract them.

So I say: time for rain to wash them all away! Or atleast send them scurrying back inside.

In other news: I had some trouble with Steemit last night. Missing upvotes, missing transactions and a post that got posted, but then mysteriously disappeared. I'm no expert, but I don't feel that's an interface issue. Is it an unstable witness or something? Missing packages? How can a post get posted, but later on disappear? I mean, I actually managed to open it, copy the link and promote it in a few channels, before I went back and found it missing.

You hear about these things sometimes, so it's not on my end either. I really wonder where the problem lies. It's waking up the troubleshooter inside me to start trouble shooting, but I wouldn't even know who to turn to, so all I can do is write about it here.

Anyway, often I copy my text before posting. Obviously, the one time it was necessary, I forgot.

In other, other news: I forgot what my other news was! I'm so sorry for the whiney post, but it's better to let things out, right? Maybe someone can relate...

I wish you all a wonderful last day of the weekend!

(And if you live in the Netherlands, I'm sorry, but I hope it rains tonight! My ears hurt from the plugs.)

Tomorrow will be a better day @playfulfoodie! :)
I just heard from someone else they lost their post too, and it also happened to me a while ago. We will prevail!

Yeah, hope it'll get better with time :D

I am with you! Strangely I have started to enjoy winter more in recent years. The sun is getting insanely hot in southern Ontario (but of course climate change is a myth LOL!). The one exception is our community garden. We are eating so well these days! I am going to post pictures soon. Hopefully the Steemit issues are resolved!

The same applies in my neighborhood, am a Nigerian, where I stay the main disturbance at night comes from small generating sets. Due to constant power failure, almost everyone around has a little generating set at his or her home. This generating sets causes not only noise pollution but air pollution to a great degree and yet nothing is been done about it..everybody actually needs that "good night rest"..but down here it eludes us still..Am a newbie on this platform, point learnt "backup your stories"!..thanks alot playfulfoodie, cool name. A topic idea hit me while reading through your post, I hope you follow me too so you can get to read it..it gone be about pollution in my area. Thanks.

Oh, that sounds pretty bad aswell! More so than my noisy neighbours to be honest!
Thank you for sharing your experience and thanks for the kind words, they make me smile :-)

It's really bad that noise level of our universe is continually rising. It's very unfortunate that my country too don't have any laws against the rising decibel levels except about playing DJ or bursting fire crackers after a certain hour in night.

And thanks for sharing your Steemit shocks! I should be careful now on, otherwise I was so trusting of this platform.

Yeah, with so many people all living so close together, it's so annoying that there aren't strict rules for noise disturbance after a certain hour. I really can't stand much noise to begin with, but I understand having to deal with it during the day. People should be allowed to get a good night's rest though. We'll all be happier for it...

I've been addicted to sleeping with earplugs in for years. I feel naked without them. Even then, I still live a noisy neighbourhood but I try not to focus on it and then I can usually sleep ok.

Glad to hear it works for you! I now have earplugs made especially for me. They still hurt my ears after a few days of wearing them though, which is when I have to sleep without them for a while. Do your ears not get hurt by using them every night?
I sleep on my sides a lot, so I always lie on one ear, which makes the plugs a bit more noticable and hurtful.

No, I think my ears are just used to them. They do get really itchy sometimes though.

Sometimes I fall asleep with headphones in and they hurt.

Oh, itching is kind of annoying too...

Yeah, it's the same kind of feeling I get from both headphones and earplugs. Maybe if I ever let new ones be made, they'll be better. For now though, we'll move to a more quiet place (I hope) next month.

Thanks for sharing your taughts and wish. Have a lovely weedend too!

Thank you very much :-)

When people are loud, and I'm in need of silence... it's annoying.
When I'm loud, and people tell me to shut up... it's annoying.

I've noticed a few of my comments and responses will vanish... that's annoying.

Isn't life just one, big annoyance?

Only when it's annoying. I try to un-annoy myself by making up words.

Sounds like a good way to go.

Winter does have something very unique about it. Great article!
