The ones of all the reasons why we have this kind of festival is the flowers of Baguio.
They call it the PANAGBENGA FESTIVAL or in english - FLOWER FESTIVAL is a month long annual flower festival that occurs in Baguio. This is the festival hel during the month of febuary and was created as a tribute to the city's flowers an the way to rise up from the the place that has devastated in 1990 in Luzon earthquake.
This festival includes floats that are covered mostly with flowers.
This festival also includes street dancing
presented by dancers that their costumes are full of flowers, and was inspired by the Bendian an Ibaloi dance of celebrations that came from the Cordillera region.
Aside from boosting the economy through tourism, this festival also helped the younger generation of native people to rediscover their cultures old doings.
in 1996 the person who has the job of collecting and storing the materials in an archieve and curator like Picpican suggested that the festival should be renamed as PANAGBENGA it is a kankanaey term that means "a season of blossoming" or "a time of flowering."
