Phishing is the main reason for the leakage of personal data

Phishing is a type of Internet fraud, when personal data is caught by users using SMS or mailing lists under the guise of well-known brands, companies and so on. During the phishing, the victim herself gives away her personal data to the attackers. This is not only the easiest way, but as it turned out, the most effective.

Google employees conducted a study, where they studied the data on the sale of Internet accounts on the black market. They found out that the most common reason for the leakage of personal data is phishing.

The results of this study were presented at a conference in Dallas "Conference on Computer and Communication Security". It turned out that 15% of all users encountered scammers at least once in the network, and lost their account information and even information about payment cards.

And although everyone tries to protect both themselves and their users from scammers and hackers, this does not always work. There are new ways, but as it turned out, the most productive old and simple. More than 800,000 passwords were lost by people because of keyloggers. With the help of phishing, cybercriminals have stolen at least 12 million accounts.
