Of course people can get something out of acupuncture, but not for medically valid reasons; it's a placebo. You can get the same effects from a soft spoken doctor in a welcoming environment handing you over a bottle of water every morning, and you can literally get the same effects using toothpicks, pretending to be needles, but poking the body in random places (The idea is supposed to be that you pierce specific 'qi' pathways).
