History and architecture of Charminar
Located in the heart of the old city of Hyderabad, Charminar (Urdu 'four' i.e. four more towers' earth tower) is one of the most recognized monuments in India. This is an architecture icon. For the city of Hyderabad, the Taj Mahal of Agra or the Eiffel Tower of Paris are the preferred choice and the most searched historic place on Google.
It is currently operated by India's archaeological survey. Charminar is situated along the Mecca Masjid on the east bank of the Musa River, another famous Qutb royal architecture is in the surrounding areas.
This 400-year structure was created by Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah, who was the 5th Sultan of the glorious Qutb Shahi dynasty. An integral part of the history of Hyderabad, Sultan took his capital from Golconda to Hyderabad and made a memorial. Historians believe that the inadequacy of water and plague forced the Quli Qutub Shah to make a new city. He prayed to the Almighty to end the pain of his people and he promised to build a mosque on the same site where he prayed.
Another story says that Sultan saw his beloved, beautiful Bagmati on this site and made a memorial for him as a symbol of his infinite love. Although this resurgence has gained popularity, but it seems wrong to count with historical dates. Apart from this, the foundation has been written during the laying of stones "O God! Fill the people in my city like this, because you have filled the river with fish, this indicates that the construction was concurrent with the establishment of the city.
