On of the primary and basic feelings that is blamed by the society as a faulty one is anger. It builds up, it takes over your body and needs an outlet. You can hear a lot these days about passive aggressive behavior, riots and cyber anger, all of this is one of the results of redirected anger, that is meant for someone or something else.
Finding the real source of anger, situations, actions and even trigger words can be a tough job in therapy. One of my favorite methods is to watch clients body reactions, they give away at what age did the client receive a message “do not show or feel anger”. You enter that realm without knowing who was the person that gave such a message, nor do you know what emotions hide anger. But at the end when you walked out of it the client feels relief.
It takes a long while, loads of trial and error situation for a client to learn how to defend their boundaries by feeling their anger, by expressing it in the healthiest way possible, by feeling it and not feeling shame or guilt afterwards. But when they do, their life becomes much easier, happier and fulfilled.
Giving yourself the right to feel all of your feelings is the best present you can give yourself.
Take care guys and have an awesome day.
