What to eat for breakfast tomorrow?

in #blog6 years ago

It's night again.

Night time is pretty awesome as always. No classes, less heat, and it is perfectly okay to lie in bed doing things I like before dozing off peacefully like those cute bears you see in Animal Planet. Like now, I'm rolling myself in my blanket writing this post while listening to some random songs in my huge playlist. Such calming moments are just a little too good to be disturbed by anything, but there is always something to bother everyone at night...

...what should I eat for tomorrow morning?

This is the question I normally ask myself before going to sleep.

To be honest, I didn't really pay attention to what I eat for breakfast ever since I came to university. This does not mean I skip breakfast in any way, but I sure treat breakfast a little less seriously compared to what I normally do during those secondary school days.

When I was at secondary school, my mum would bring me to a bakery near our house every night to buy some bread as breakfast for the next day. Since classes start at 7:30am for secondary school, this is really one of the best breakfast strategies you can have. Instead of trying to wake up earlier to wait for meals from stalls near the road, you can have more sleep and just eat those bread when you are awake to prepare yourself for the day. More sleep is always better, you can't disagree, right?

Since I got to choose the type of breads I want for the next morning, I was somehow responsible for my own breakfast in some way. I had to choose something tasty, gives enough energy to support my little brain until recess, and at the same time is not too large in size so I can finish it up within a short time frame. Well, don't ask how I learn about them, it just comes over time as experience. You know, starving before recess because I took only doughnuts for breakfast doesn't sound fun.

Somehow, I recall that day before I came back to university during the last semester break...

Since the train is departing at 7:30am, it also makes sense for me to prepare breakfast before the next day. My mum dropped me at the bakery we were used to go to, and just like in the past, I naturally wanted to choose something that I like to eat, and at the same time is giving me enough energy throughout the journey because it's unsure if the train has a canteen on it.

It's a pretty nostalgic feel - the shop didn't changed a thing over these years. Maybe the advertising banners, but everything inside is still like what it was like. The fridges they used to keep the cakes, the racks by the window, the little corner they store the trays, everything. It's like the bakery is exempted from time flow. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but who could resist the bursting emotions when the nostalgia floods up?

The time isn't really right so there aren't too many types of bread available. Quite a number of trays are empty, but it seems that they haven't changed the flavors since I last came...Interesting huh, are those bread so welcoming? Well, maybe they did some changes, but the old ones are still here to stay. Who knows, it's kinda impossible for a bakery to live with a stagnant menu for so long considering that they have some notable competitors around. Anyways, the old choices are still good and I do miss them. Garlic is still a great friend to bread and who can resist chocolates?

To be honest I would prefer to get something with tuna filling...but apparently they were sold out at that moment. But I can always get a similar flavor from Subway anyways.

Well, looking at these photos I somehow feel a little sad that all I have for tomorrow's breakfast will be some salted biscuits and a cup of chocolate drink...maybe I should treat myself better and start to put a little more effort in finding good breakfast around :3 Since having good food prepared for the morning can be quite a good motivation to wake up, right?

Reminder to all, breakfast is important - it does not only supply you energy for the day, it is also the motivation to wake up for the day. Good food is important.

What do you guys eat for breakfast and do you plan for it? Don't tell me that you don't even eat breakfast ;)

I just purely don't understand why there's still people in the world who don't like taking breakfast. Breakfast is VERY important you know.

Speaking of bakeries, you made remembered of a childhood memory where that day was one of the unforgettable days to the bakery . There's that one afternoon where me, my sister and my mum dropped by at the bakery after some grocery pickup. That day was pretty cloudy and it rained a while later after we went into the bakery. So it rained pretty heavily after we're done buying the bread and we can't go back like that (Fact: The streets are partially flooded with water so yeah yet imagine that yourself. And yeah, we don't bring an umbrella that day). My mum don't have a phone back then (Another fact: It's 2004. Yeah try imagine that) so we waited outside the bakery for like an hour.

An hour after waiting outside the bakery (it's not really cold actually thank you air conditioning ventilators), my dad came out of nowhere (Telepathy? I guess so.) and picked all 3 of us back. Honestly thinking, dropping by at the bakery is a good idea. Or else we're going to walk under the rain back. :pain:

Well bread nowadays at KL is pretty overpriced. Oh an exception to those pre-packed bread you can get technically everywhere. The shops can't increase the price either as that's gonna violate the laws (yeah the prices are fixed). Though not a fairly good option compared to the bread sold in the bakeries but a nice choice in case you can't find a bakery nearby but craving for bread or simply just on a budget.

Ah before I forget, you can also bake bread yourself. Just make a bread dough, shape it, put some condiments in it and it's ready to bake. Fact: Back in my SPM days my mum made bread for me for every exam day. Apparently got a little fat after the exam thanks to the bread (my mum assumed it so lul). Homemade bread is always the best as you can customize it yourself, safe to eat (full of love and without those unknown chemicals) and also the cost of making it is pretty cheap. Well you can try this once you got home some day. Want one? :nom:
