Photocontests are now popular in Steemit. I, myself have participated in some and always see great pictures being posted as entries for various photocontests. Such contests have different rules from different users. The most basic and common rule is to post authentic/original photos as entries. But as I try to dig up some photos from different contests, I kinda noticed that some of them were too good to be true. So I did some research and found out that some of the pictures I saw were just grabbed from the internet and was claimed as their own upon posting.
How did I found out about the authenticity of the photos? Here are a few steps in doing so:
Step 1: If you think the photos are too good to be true. Right Click on the photo if you're on PC. Long Press on the photo if you're on mobile.
Step 2: Click on Search Google for this image
Step 3: Upon clicking, Google will automatically search for this particular image on a new tab. Scroll Down on the results to see if it is an image already posted on the internet.
There you have it, the process of finding out if the posted photos are really of the user's original property. Joining contests are fun especially if a lot of people will appreciate your work but grabbing photos off the internet and claiming as your own to post in a photocontest is just unfair.
