Photography Contests FAQ
I want to address some questions here that I have been getting on a regular basis.
Participating
How do I participate?
Just share your photography while using the correct tag(found below).
Can I participate in both daily contests?
Yes you can, you can join as many contests as you want. Do make a separate post for each entry.
How often can I enter?
There is no max, but try to keep it at no more than 3 entries per category. Also, no spamming.
Do I need to share the link to my entry?
No, just using the correct tag will allow me to find your photo.
Photos
Can I use the same photo for multiple categories?
Yes you can, you can however only win once per photo.
Can I only use my own photos?
Yes, only use photos you shot and/or composed yourself.
Do I need to make new photos?
No, you are required to make new photos. However, making new photos will allow you to apply what you have learned. The only way to improve as a photographer is to make new photos.
Am I required to share all the metadata for each photo like you do? (camera, lens, settings etc)
You are not. It does however make your blog come over as more professional, making people more likely to follow you.
Contests
How long does each contest run?
Each contest runs for 7 days, so you can post your entry every day of the week. 24 hours before the deadline I post a reminder, most people tend to post on the last day.
Wha is the current payout for a certain category
Will be announced within the reminder message on the last day.
Winners and payout
When are the winners announced?
I try to get out my selections the day after at 12:00 and 14:00 UTC
When are the prizes payed out?
Usually this is done on the same day, later in the evening.

Monday: foodphotography and animalphotography
Tuesday: landscapephotography and cityscapephotography
Wednesday: architecturalphotography and vehiclephotography

I noticed most of my entries receive the auto response from @photocontests World of Photography Beta V1.0. However, some do not. Is there a way to find out if my entry was received?
There is a COMMENT section which shows 0/5 comment.
Where have to do comment...

i want to ask that there is travel category so can we allow more then 1 photo in that post or only one photo because if i want to share 3 photos in same post for travel category then can i do it?
You can do both. Personally if they have the same theme I would just group them together. However, if they are quite different from each other, they deserve their own post ;p

Can I upload same photo in a day? Like I uploaded photo for smartphonephotography but after sometime I think that this photo shold be in goldenhourphotography tag. So I upload again with the tag goldenhourphotography. Can I do it?

same problem as @jarosalawszafran, I already posted 6 photos in differentv category. I do not see what is wrong? I do not receive comment from @photocontests as other people get . Did I do something wrong ? or does it mean my picture is not in your selection of the contest?

So do the pictures have to be brand new or can they just be recent images we have?

Sorry for my late reply. To be honest, I do not know how I got the post. I used to put photocontest each time and, one day, I got the post.
Hi! One question. If I want to participate in in the Wednesday contest, should I post my photo on Wednesday from 00:00 UTC to 23:59 UTC? The time zone is my real worry. Thanks!
I'm also wondering about the timing. This post says each contest runs seven days and each has a final day. For example, can I post a smartphonephotography entry any day of the week, and will it be included in the next smartphone contest, or can I only post for the current category that day?

I'm wondering this as well.
In case you are still wondering. You get paid a certain amount of SBD, the memo will tell which category you won in and how much additional XP you receive for winning.
That said, I was lucky enough to win in the animalphotography section but nor the win, nor the additional XP shows up in my stats.

Hi @juliank . How can i get out from blacklist. I think there is some misunderstanding. I can't reach you in Discord, so I write here.
It's about @photocontests comment on this post , that I'm not using mine own photo here .
I can prove copyright with larger image, which link is under photo on the post and raw file. Or download photo from here - right click - details -Origin - view authors and copyright link :)

How is your situation? Are you out from blacklist? Because I have the same thing. Blacklisted wrongly by a bot, have a raw file that I want to send to juliank as a proof, but can't reach him on Discord
I don't know mate. I just stop using their tags . I wrote everywhere @juliank doesn't respond - here , on my posts, doscord , steem chat. I sent a prove for copyright but there is no answer at all. Just skip them and you'll be clear from their embarrassing comments , posted buy no reason. Wish you good luck buddy.

Hi @juliank great explaining on the contest rules and categories but one typo I noticed under "Do I need to make new photos?" The first line says "No, you a required to make new photos" I think you meant to put No, you are NOT required to make new photos. This was after reading the following line as it had me a little confused at first. Hope that helps to clear up anyone else who may have been a little confused at first glance! Cheers!
