Daily blog || Surviving in Venezuelan motorcycles

in #blog6 years ago

Hello guys, aside from talking about music or films I want to take this as an almost daily blog for some fun (or not so fun) experiences that happen to me on a daily bases in this chaotic and crazy country, so buckle up for the nearly death experiences that is getting in to taxi bike or how they call it here “moto-taxi”.

So, to begin with I have to say that in Venezuela the public transportation or buses are private and don’t belong to the state, even doe in the past, the state set up the price for the rides but due to the political chaos and hyperinflation most of the buses and public transportation are in strike or just stop because of the lack of spares for the cars and the high cost that this have, so people usually have to walk to get to work and their homes or take a very Venezuelan type or transportation that’s call “moto-taxi”. These are people (believe or not they are usually ex-cons or criminals) who owns bikes and use them to makes rides for people like a normal taxi would do (they are so crazy that they dare to take 2 or 3 people at a time), they don’t respect any traffic rule or stop sign and pass between moving vehicles like they don’t care about life.

or stop sign and pass between moving vehicles like they don’t care about life.
This morning I need it to go to some place near the centre of town (I lived on the east side of the city) to pick up some supplies for a computer that I’m trying to fix, and the guy who are selling me the part can only wait for me there for a few minutes, so I was forced to take a “mototaxi” they guy I pull over looks like he was going to kill me at any moment, but turns out to be a really nice, but ever since I sit in that bike all house broke loose.

  • my pants opened when I was trying to go up into the bike
  • the biker sped up right away, leaving me with no time to holding on to something witch I beardly fall down the bike
  • this guys was driving down the traffic like there’s no other cars besides him, we almost crash like 2 or 3 different times
  • the driver went on a different direction because it was a “shortcut” safe to say I really thought I was going to be murdered by that guy, but in the end we got to my stop in one piece.

Safe to say I get in to that bike as an atheist, and I got off like a Christian man. I swear that was the last time I get in to one of this bikes, the whole thing was crazy I never want to do it again lol.

You guys have some crazy experiences like this one on your country? Let me know in the coments

whooaa.. that's a crazy adventure @javiercastle1, I've never had any experiences with the strange motobike driver like yours though. the only bad experience I had with the online motorbike driver is he wanted to pass through the traffic road but didn't know the best way, he didn't know about my right knee too (I can fold my leg due to harmstring's injury, so he took a small path between a cart and electricity pole try to get through but unfortunately my reflects was bad and my knees hit the pole.

aahh.. I'm here to let you know that I have featured you in the pay it forward contest this week, here is the link to my post My Entry Post : Pay It Forward Curation Contest Week 23 please check it out if you have time, Thank You and wish you all the best

anyways you have your share part of scare hahaha
thank you dipo i'm gonna check it out right now :)

You are very welcome Javier 😀

Hey, I found your post due to @dipoabasch's featuring you in a contest.

As you are new, you might want to check out the #ccc community - I am surprised that none of the members ( @dipoabasch, @cicisaja, @macoolette) have introduced it to you or invited you ...

At the very least, check out the many contests that you could win SBI shares - what's it? Click on #ccc and look for my posts.

All the best!

Ooppsss, my bad. Sorry... Yeah, I wonder why I did not invite him. I'll keep that in mind next time.

You are just "No kidding" me @javiercastle1 😂 I can't help myself but laugh out loud, though I know this is not a comedy post though😆 hey I think you have something that called "sense of humour" ... maybe you should try to create a post for the hashtag openmiccomedy 😉

Well.. thank you for sharing with us about situation in your country, so the public transportation belongs to private company or national private company? I mean you have to pay for the ticket without any subsidize from the government? Can you find the moto-taxi anywhere without using the Apps?

I've never had such experience like you but one day I ordered an online motobike rider, unfortunately the driver seems like forgetting to wash his helmet and his old motobike has a lil prob plus he didn't know how to use GPS 😯 I supposed to be at the place I go in 15 minutes (well.. @dipoabasch is my private driver for the rest of my life) but with the online driver it took 30 minutes and I must wait another minute to let him get away from my sight and throw everything in my guts to the ground, since that time... I always bring my own helmet, in case I face the same situation😊

hahaha yes, in these kinds of situations you have to laugh before you cry 😂
as I said in the post, these bikers are not very "legals" so they don't have any apps or anything, they just wait around bus stops and other places.

And for the public transportation. There's transportation companys in here call "lineas" which each one have a number assigned and a rute for them to follow anyone who has the money to buy a bus can associate with one of this companys and start to work as a transport, they own the buses, and they decided what to charged. The government has virtually no control over them

Well.. it is something like free riders services in my country, in my hometown Aceh we call them "RBT" a short for Rakyat Banting Tulang or Hardworking Society, and in my new domicile now we called them "Ojek Pangkalan" or awaited free riders just like in your country😂 but we have another online riders too something like "uber" if you ever heard it.

About the bus😯 it's a bit strange if government has no control on them, the charge will be too expensive for passengers. We have national private company that run the public transportation and other private tranportation company that follow the government policy about the charges.

No wonder why you said that you'll never get on the moto-taxi with driver who probably a valentino rossi or Marc Marquez fans😆

I have tried riding with motorcycles but somehow the driver was not as wild as that. Though I admit that I see some drivers doing the same thing.

they are so crazy that they dare to take 2 or 3 people at a time

Sometimes the riders can give the drivers a lesson by not riding on their motorbike if there are already max of 2 passengers. I think the driver will have no choice if passengers are the ones not riding in.

Safe to say I get in to that bike as an atheist, and I got off like a Christian man.

Man, you really made me laugh. Alone! 😂 But kidding aside, it is not bad to believe in God.

I came across your article through @dipoabasch who featured it on his post as an entry to Pay It Forward Curation Contest. The contest is open to everyone so you are welcome to join.

hahahaha I believe in God, that's just a say they had here :)
I'm glad you like the article, I'm considering entering the contest

Okay, it is good to know that you believe in God. 😊

Yes, you are very much welcome to join.

That sounds very frightening to me!!! I feel some inspiration for some crazy stuff for one of my books, lol.
I found you via @dipoabasch's Pay it Forward contest entry. Keep up the great work.

yeah it really is. This is a type of transportation that I would not recomend to anybody! lol.
I'm glad you liked it my friend, feel free to check out my new entry if you like.

That sounds crazy!! I'm Canadian but living in Mexico right now, and we were in an accident with our scooter the other day; a drunk driving taxi driver with his wife and baby in the front seat, cut us off. It had just rained so the road was totally slippery and we were sent skidding sideways down the road. Thankfully we weren't seriously hurt, but ended up with a lot of road rash!

I found your post because @dipoabasch featured you in his Pay it Forward Curation Contest entry :) Please consider joining us next week with an entry of your own!

yeah i heard that mexican drivers are really crazy, thankfully you guys are ok :)
yes I'm going to try to join you guys next week
