A day out into the wild #11

Having one thing on your to do list and not achieving it isn’t the best feeling in the world.

After a morning of playing some video games, an afternoon of lounging on the sofa, being offered a trip into the countryside is a fantastic way to get out of the house (and delay the to do list).

A trip into the mountains, blue skies, fresh air and lambing season.

There is something so refreshing about the outdoors. For thousands of years, it’s where we spent all of our time.

We look at society today and think ‘we spend too much time on our phones, kids don’t spend enough time playing outside’ etc etc

Well, whilst listening to a Gary V podcast, he talked about how there was a time when wearing clothes was a new phenomenon.

People looked at others thinking ‘I can’t believe they sleep inside a house, they’re getting soft’.

Change is inevitable.

What’s also inevitable is my to do list will always have something on it that I will delay starting and instead, choose to venture outside.

Clear air grants clear thoughts.

Everyone’s got a lot on their plate and everyone’s been dealt a different hand. My year hasn’t been great. Emergency flight back from Australia, quarantine, lockdown, illnesses and deaths in the family.

Currently I have a fairly serious crossroads in my life coming up. Do I stick with what I’ve been doing? Or do I go down an unknown path.

They say it’s better to regret the things you do rather the things that you don’t do.

At the time though, it doesn’t make it any easier to jump into taking the new path.

The fresh air helped, although, I may need a fair few more walks to work through all the possibilities.
