THE DAILY 10 - Roads That You Would Never Dare to Drive On

1.  Passage du Gois (FRANCE) - In a glance, it looks like a normal road and looks safe but once the tide comes in, usually twice a day, the whole road vanishes entirely.

2. Patipoulo - Perdikaki (GREECE) - This road's elevation changes nearly 500 meters. You will find potholes and tight turns on this road. Throw in the heavy truck, pedestrian and livestock traffic and take note of the absence of guard-rails.

3. Luxor-Al-Hurghada Road (EGYPT) - This road goes through some remote areas and you don't want your ride to break down while you're on this road. Also, this area is known as being patrolled by criminals who strike at night.

4. Taroko Gorge Road (TAIWAN) - This road is considered one of Taiwan's deadliest roads. Carved through mountains, this road is prone to erosion and landslides. This road is extremely narrow which has numerous blind corners. This road offers a lot of surprises!

5. Skippers Canyon Road (NEW ZEALAND) - This road has all the characteristics that you should expect of a dangerous route - carved at the side of the mountain without barriers, extremely narrow, a 2-way road but you need to backup to let the other vehicle pass.

6. Halsema Highway (PHILIPPINES) - it is a road 2000 meters above sea level. Heavy rainfalls, fog and mudslides can turn this road into a nightmare. Every year, there are countless accidents on this road - vehicles crashing to each other or they simply roll off the edge and plummet down the side of the mountain.

7. Tianmen Mountain Road (CHINA) - With 99 hairpin turns with and elevation change of 110 meters, meeting an oncoming vehicle can be very challenging.

8. Eyre Highway (AUSTRALIA) - this highway is straight, flat and well-maintained which makes motorists have a hard time paying attention or staying awake and this has produced a number of crashes and collisions and is nicknamed "Slaughter Alley". 

9. Karakoram Highway (CHINA to PAKISTAN) - World's highest paved international roadway that cuts through the mountains and canyons from China to Pakistan. With heavy fog, sudden blizzards and heavy flooding makes this road a dangerous one. Bandits and terrorists are also known to camp out near certain sections of the road ready to strike  random targets. 

10. Zoji La Pass ( INDIA) - This road links the cities of Ladakh and Kashmir. High winds and heavy snowfall makes this road impassable at certain time of the year. This narrow road lacks safety barriers.
