So, I've decided to take on a Carb Cycling challenge my friend Maddie issued to me. She said it has really helped her loose some unwanted weight. She is following the Chris and Heidi Powell Carb Cycling Program. She has signed up for the 3 month program they have on their website and is using their app and support system. She felt it was time to invest in herself and get back what she felt she had lost during her first two years of marriage to her husband. It sounded great and very promising. Of course all things are easier with a friend and she challenged me to do it with her.

I needed more information on Carb Cycling so I went to the internet and I found an episode of Dr. Oz where Chris Powell explained more about carb cycling. I'll share the link to the episode in the end of this post to stay tuned for that. Here is what I came away with and the plan I'll be following for the next three weeks.

Days of the week alternate between being a Low carb day or a High carb day. Starting with a Low Carb Monday. On low carb days I will be shooting to keep my carb count below 50 Carbs. On High Carb days eating up to 150 Carbs. Each day will consist of 5 Smaller meals, or eating every 3 hours.

Low Carb days cut carbs after breakfast

  • Meals are a mix of proteins, fats and veggies

High Carb Days

  • Meals are a mix of Protein, Veggie and Carbs

Sunday is Cheat Day. A day to enjoy the foods you crave while trying to eat more healthier. However Chris offered these four rules to keep Cheat day from turning into Cheat week.

Four Cheat day rules:

  • Cheat up to 1000 extra Calories
  • Cheat only at Breakfast and Lunch
  • Cheat at a table
  • No leftovers

Here is the link to Chris Powell's "Rules for Carb Cycling". There you will find a wealth of information, and some great links for yummy recipes. I hope you enjoyed my post. If you decide to join me on this adventure please comment below. I check my replies daily and we can learn how to lose together. Stay tuned for my progress

Have a great day!
