My Top 10 Alien Movies

in #blog7 years ago

NOTE: These are my personal top 10 alien movies. If you don't see a movie on this list that you think should be, I've either never seen it, or don't like it. In no way is this top 10 definitive to the subject. Comment your favorite alien movies below! I'll check 'em out!

10| Independence Day
1996

Most people I've know don't really like this movie that much. But I don't give a fuck, this was one of those movies that I used to watch over and over as a kid. It was one of the first alien movies I ever saw, and it definitely made me love the genre. I mean, the way the aliens get ready to attack by occupying every major city in the world and fucking everything up, that shit is crazy.

9| Cloverfield
2008

Cloverfield was an interesting alien movie taken from a different approach. It was all shot in first person. T.J. Miller was suppose to be the guy behind the camera, although we rarely see him the whole movie, we definitely hear his voice. He adds the perfect comedic aspect to the movie. But watching them stumble through New York City getting attacked by different alien creatures, little and humongous. It's definitely one of those movies you can't take your eyes off of.

8| The Watch
2012

Not too many people saw this movie, which I thought was a shame. Any time you got an alien movie combined with straight comedy and it works, it's bound to be an awesome movie. And that is this movie, for me. Ben Stiller, Vince Vauhn and Jonah Hill team up to make a neighborhood watch team and while trying to catch a murderer, find out that aliens are living inside of the Costco where Ben Stiller's character works at. It's hilarious and keeps you guessing of who might be the alien amongst them.

7| The World's End
2013

In this movie, a group of friends head back to their hometown together to tour several pubs throughout the night getting drunk along the way. As they get deeper into the night, they begin to realize that everyone left in their town have been replaced by aliens, who've take form of exact replicas of people from their old neighborhood. It's both hilarious and packed with hilarious fighting scenes. From the guys that brought you Sean Of The Dead.

6| Knowing
2009

After retrieving a strange list of numbers from a time capsule at his daughter's elementary school, an M.I.T. professor figures out that the numbers are specific dates in time in which future and past disasters occur. It all leads up to one date, which is when they come to earth, take in all the children and eliminate the rest. It's crazy just to see how it all pans out.

5| District 9
2009

Now we've all seen the alien movie where they come down to earth and start a big fight with us humans. Yes, we've seen this many times. But this movie takes a whole other approach. What if they came to live with us here? And they had they're own part of town, segregated from the rest of society. It's quite interesting to see. While chaos does ensure, it's fun to see just how the aliens could live among us.

4| War Of The Worlds
2005

This one was one of my mom's favorite alien movies, so I definitely watched it a number of times when I was younger. And I'm pretty sure I saw this one in theaters when it came out. It's interesting to see what the world can turn into when giant aliens are destroying everything. The earth becomes a wasteland. The people become much more greedy and insane. And the you begin to realize that you need to be cautious among the humans as well as the giant aliens walking the earth.

3| Signs
2002

This was the first alien movie that really scared the shit out of me. First time I watched this one, I was in elementary school and we were at the drive in, sitting in the back of our car. I don't know what it was, but the scene where the kids at their bithday party see the alien walk by, scared the shit out of me. This movie also made me scared of ever thinking about living out in the middle of nowhere. Because when the aliens finally show themselves, they're all over the damn place.

2| The Fourth Kind
2009

This movie scared the living shit out of me. Had me turning on all the lights to go the fuckin' bathroom and all that. This one is apparently based on a true story. To prove that they use actual footage and audio from the therapists files. One of the most chilling scenes in the movie is when they get an audio recording of what they believe is an alien talking. And what you hear is so foreign and intimidating that it makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

1| Arrival
2016

This, in my opinion, is one of the best alien movies ever made. When strange ships appear all over the world in several major continents, the world becomes shocked and confused as to what to do. Some people want to study it, go inside and possibly communicate, while others think they must defend themselves and prepare to attack. Can the human race pull together and figure out a solution? We're not exactly known for helping each other most of the time. Also the look of the aliens and the way they speak is crazy and unique like nothing I've ever seen before. This is one you definitely gotta see.

Arrival is a brilliant movie!

I absolutely agree with you! It's honestly the best alien movie I've seen yet!

I'm sorry for my English if I make mistakes, but film editing is divine. The first ascent to the ship is so exciting scene for me. When the camera overturned, I almost threw up))))

Haha, yes, it was definitely an amazing scene to watch for the first time :)

@dubceereviews Great list! Where's Paul at tho..? Aha

I only saw Paul one time, awhile ago. Like, a few years ago. All these other ones I've seen a bunch of times. I probably would've added it if I remembered any of it. I'ma have to watch it again! Thanks for reminding me!
