Title: The Number 23
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Length: 98 minutes
Director: Joel Schumacher
Distributed By: New Line Cinema
Release Date: February 23, 2007
Personal Rating: 2.5 out of 5

With a perfect cast to bring the story to life, including names such as:
Jim Carrey
Virginia Madsen
Logan Lerman
Danny Hutson
Lynn Collins
& Mark Pellegrino

Now, most people, and I mean majority of people, are used to seeing Jim Carrey in the more goofy and comedic roles more so than the lead star of a psychological thriller. Despite this, I thought he did a fantastic job. Of course he was a bit more of a humorous kind of guy, saying funny shit here and there, when shit got serious, he played his role very well. This is one of those movies with a twist that might fuck with your mind a bit, but of course, that's the purpose of a psychological thriller. So this film surely succeeded in that aspect, no doubt about that. The entire conspiracy theory around the number 23 is what really draws you in. At first it all seems like coincidence, until we're introduced to facts and dates that all sum up to the number 23, which brings up the question, is the number 23 a blessing or a curse? A question that keeps you wondering once you hear it.

The only thing that I didn't like much about this movie, was how confused it would make me at times. Yes, I know a psychological thriller typically calls for some confusion, but at times, the way the scenes were put together made me lose my train of thought on what was even happening. The first time I watched this, I loved it, but the second time around, I wasn't as impressed. I definitely recommend a watch still, without a doubt, but this movie might not be for everyone. But by all means, give it a try! It reminded me a lot of the movie "Shutter Island". While it wasn't as good or critically acclaimed, they definitely fall into the same category. Give it a watch!
