Typical Saturday - Podcasts and Coffee

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

Holidays are over.. We're back into the daily routine..

My weekend are podcasts... or used to be.. Wake up, grab some food, settle in and listen to a few..

But the last month or so we've done other stuff.. then there was Xmas.. Xmas is it's own set of stuff.. the Xmas vortex..

And partly this dearth of podcasts was cause we were caught up on our two favs..

my dad wrote a porno: yes, imagine your day writing a porno.. It is exactly like that and so much more..

Reply all: the internet for people who aren't tech savvy. the 'cultural' phenomena that is the internet

Both worth checking out, if you want my recommendation not that anyone should. I am no one. Give 'em a listen if you get a chance, or are into podcasts..

Anyhooo... We started our podcast journey with Serials

And we're back there now.. another serial podcast about a horrible horrible man..

I'm a big fan of podcasts. I find them relaxing, but they also activate my brain in some way.. I actually used a meditation band that measures brainwaves, and I am about as calm listening to podcasts as I am meditating..

But full disclosure, I am the most relaxed doing the dishes. Think mindful actions, think tea ceremony

Gimme a podcastused to be a book, but now, with the glasses, I tend not to read so much, some coffee, a Saturday... poifect

That's our day. It's the small things. The moments between the serious and important stuff.. the breaks, the quiet, the apartment, the dogs.

Sort:

I try to listen to podcasts, but if I am typing or writing anything I find bits and pieces of the podcast in my writing! No Bueno! However, I am having to learn to do one thing at a time for the now. I'm not sure I want to give up my other projects to just sit and listen. Can you even imagine me sitting still?
Ren

I cannot

this is a good thing.. keep moving :D

But for me, it's an opportunity to relax a bit and let my mind absorb info..

I love it

Then listen on, my friend.

It's the weekend!!!

dances

and another one is coming..

BTW.. some very on point youtubes posted in discord there.. your own personal dance party!

I try very hard to get people moving!

I totally get it. In way I think of them like old radio shows. There are a couple of ones that I like, but don't listen often. I have the same problem @xcountrytravelers have. I listen to thing and I start typing what I hear. Great post.

Wow!!!! That is crazy!!! ok but wait.
no it's not crazy at all
cuz you like Bob Ross.

me thinks you have ASMR like another Dreemified person you may know.!!!!

I sleep every night to ASMR. and i. am. OUT. if i don't use it - it's really hard for me to shut my brain down. i know that ASMR is like - creepy when you see some of the people but that's cuz they THINK they know what ASMR is - but they're just faking the funk for a buck. the girl i listen to was one of the originals and has it herself so she is primo!

shuts the brain off and i'm in la la land in 4.2 seconds. its crazy hehehehe

but yeah - AM radio used to do that to me too
or this one guy that was like... on a jazz station. I would only hear him if I woke up in the middle of the night and the radio was on. and he talked about NOTHING. i mean - nothing.

it was like... random words that kind fit together to say absolutely zilch. but his voice was like that soft buzzing soothing "shhhhh go back to sleep" voice. gahhhh

anywho.

i know one other person that enjoys doing the dishes and says it relaxes him!!! @anutu! you have a twin! hehehehe

me and @audreybits want him to come to our house to do dishes. but we have two of you! hahahah no need to share.

come come. we can't wait any longer LOL

Interesting post. I was never a fan of podcasts. To tell the truth, I'm not even sure I know what a podcast is.

Thanks for your post, which I've found because @ravijojla featured you in an entry for the Pay It Forward Contest

In case it's my turn to be honest, I admit that it has to be @darrenfj who'll make the podcast matter clear to me or no one else. Good to have some smart guys around, so I know that such word exist in the global vocabulary. Taking bow and withdrawing

see below!

You can find podcasts on almost anything now.. I did one with a comedy buddy a while back called Tipple and Talk where we rated cocktails and pretty much got drunk doing it.

What kind of topics are you into?

Hm...good question! Wine. Cheese and grapes. Provence, nature and fragrances.
This is as per of today :-)

There's gotta be a good podcast on wines, wineries, and winos!

challenge accepted!!

Splendid! Let me know the moment I could listen to it. :-)

podcasts are very much like radio shows but accessible through the internet...

there are two ways to listen..

  1. on the site, you can usually just click a button and it will play the audio file. the files can be stored anywhere, but are often stored on a site like soundcloud

  2. some places like the apple app website have a library that will allow you to download the audio to your phone..

For example.. here is a link to a site that has some fun podcasts a friend does: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/personalbest

and one of them: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/personalbest/how-to-high-five-yourself-1.4533055
has a link on the page that will play the audio in your browser.

I'm going to leave the full links up so you can see the path..

One of the classics, this american life, was a radio show that is now a podcast as well..

this is a good one: https://www.thisamericanlife.org/513/129-cars
about car salesmen

and this one is one of my favs cause it's so weird..
https://www.gimletmedia.com/mystery-show/case-3-belt-buckle
about a belt buckle..

that last one, you can see, has a soundcloud file embedded in it, but you can see also that at the top you downloud using spotify or some app called apple podcasts.

Aw, how so very kind of yours to tell all these valuable facts. So, I'm also into that pool obviously...hehe

listen to the belt buckle one.. it's kinda fun..

Sure :-) Thanks!

heard and read people write about podcast and even seen one of the link to podcast on my phone but never tried it.. LOL, sounds interesting @darrenfj (don't laugh at me just because I didn't take the chance to try) is it something like listening someone reading a book for you?

I fpund your post through @ravijojla netry post in the pay it forward contest this week. Thanks for sharing anyway.

Thank you for coming to say hi..

I posted a few good links up there..

A good podcast is like listening to a radio program.. In fact, many were offshoots from radio programs..

I would say search by podcast and some topic you like (space, history, whatever)

You're welcome and thanks to you too for the link 😉 I should try it soon.

Definitely explore podcasts of topics that interest you!

My hubby watches Joe Rogan. Not quite a podcast but as I listen to it while on steem, it sorta is for me, lol.

A good youtube is kind of like a podcast.

I've seen clips and he definitely does it like a podcast..
