Around this time last year I was in SteemFest3 mode and gearing up for the week in Poland, a little nervous about what I was going to run into. Firstly, it was the cost of the trip and being away from my daughter. But then there was the FUD running through my head on what I was going to learn there, as for someone so optimistic and personally invested on Steem's future, would my views hold after spending time meeting those who will play roles in shaping the future?
For me, character is important and meeting people face to face is the best way to evaluate their trustworthiness and whether I am going to support them in their quest, whatever that may be. Obviously on the internet, it isn't always possible to meet people, but SteemFest gave me the opportunity so I took it and I am very glad I did.
Meeting people, spending time getting to know them, sharing meals and drinks and experiencing Krakow and laughing much to much together made a difference to my thinking, as it is these people who are the many faces of Steem itself. Developers, investors, contributors, travelers, artists, marketers, thinkers, coders and all kinds of different people all coming together to talk Steem, and it taught me a lot.
For those of you who think it might not make a difference for you, in the last year since SteemFest I have over doubled my stake on Steem and I know at least two others that I got to know there who have gone from barely Dolphins to Orcas in the same time. Meeting the people of Steem gives a perspective that can be missed in the posts and the take away is overwhelmingly positive because when one actually builds human connections to the projects and directions - the FUD drops away and regardless of the current conditions, working toward a better future takes focus.
Let's see who we can help get there this year
This year SteemFest is in Thailand in November and unfortunately for me, I am unable to go - but that doesn't mean I can't support those who are or may still want to go.
@blocktrades and @anomadsoul are teaming up with three projects to give opportunities for Steemians and potential Steemians to get Free tickets + accommodation and perhaps some support to make it to SteemFest4. The is a fantastic opportunity to reduce the cost of attendance, especially for those close by around the Asia/ Pacific/ Australia regions.
Free ticket + accommodation possibilities

These are all brilliant opportunities to not only have a great time in Thailand with some of the best of the best Steemians, it is also a great chance to see Bangkok for free. It is because I had such a great time and learned so much that I don't mind shilling for SteemFest4, even though I can't go.
November and SteemFest 4 is coming up fast so get on it and even if you can't go yourself, put the word out there, share, promote and support if you can to give as many as possible the opportunity to take part.
For those who do get there - you are going to have a ball!!
I am jealous

well, there are three chances for tickets and accommodation listed here, give it a go. It was great to meet people there for sure.
I've heard how amazing the experience was at SF3 for you, meeting people from the community who you followed and who followed you, plus new people as well! I know how valuable it has been for your steem journey and that the relationships you began and built upon at and after SF3 have made a great difference.
I've been to Thailand several times and think it's an amazing place for SF4 and to visit in general and I believe the event will be a valuable opportunity for those in the community keen on driving forward to get involved in.
It's going to be an awesome few days for those
luckysmart enough to get there!A few great ways to grab some free tickets and accommodation mentioned here...Seems like a good opportunity for someone who may not otherwise be able to go.
I would have loved to have gone, but it just was outside the realm of possibility this year.
The people are great to spend some time with and most of the "real talk" was done in the wee hours of the morning. There are also some people going this year I would have liked to have met for the first time.
I reckon that for the majority of people who go there and get to talking with a range of people., they will have a much better view of the potential of Steem and likely build relationships with people working toward fulfilling that potential.
And yes, ticket and accommodation is a massive help for many people, especially with Steem price low at the moment.
I'm pretty bummed about not getting there myself - If I wasn't going to NZ I would have gone.
Yep, it would have been a good one too with a lot of warmth and relatively cheap everything. One of the issues with having it in other locations is the cost of organization and the secondary expenses. I am hoping that some people are able to pick up these tickets and swing it this year.
Free stuff is always a great pick up. I hope SF4 is a huge success. Based on those going so far it seems like it will.
There are a few going that I would have loved to meet, but some of them are still secrets :)
Might be time to reveal the secrets, might inspire some to attend. Leave it too late and it may be too late for people to make arrangements to go. But what do I know?
Nice bundle for free opportunities for Steemfest this year. For me is too far away and probably will follow it on the steemit platform unfortunately. But still, I am hoping good news we'll come our ways.
Last year was the first for me, but for SF2 I followed the posts and streams on steem and got a fair bit out of it too. It is obviously different to meet the folks though :)
See you around Steem for the streams.
I am very weak and all but I try to participate in one of the contests by Blocktrades having to do with creating a series of posts. I am on part three and this was my recent entry.

Good luck and hopefully you are able to score a ticket.
This post has been included in the latest edition of The Steem News - a compilation of the key news stories on the Steem blockchain.
I am now trying to keep hitting 10K,mark just for that, because even though it is close by for me, expenses are still a lot when there are a lot of expenses used for the family.
I do hope I can squeeze in more time for travel feed.
I have tons to write about still.
