Managing your trades

In our final installment of guides for how to use our service we'll be showing you some tips for tracking your transactions, navigating a block explorer, and hopefully answering some common questions that our customers have.

Register your email address with BlockTrades

If you haven't done so yet, you should check out our guide! In short: this allows you to view a ledger of your trades and provides you with links to block explorers to track confirmations. Click the magnifying glass to the left of your transaction if you want to see more details about your trade, including the input and output transaction hashes and the specific address that your exchange was transferred to.

What is a "Block Explorer?"

Glad you asked!

A "block explorer" is a tool, generally produced by a member of the community, that allows you to search through the blockchain for specific transaction records or accounts. They can be used to locate individual "transaction hashes" or view if a transaction has been confirmed by the blockchain.

Here are some of our favorites that we use when helping customers with support issues, including how to form URLs if you are looking up information on a specific account or transaction:

Note: the part in ALL_CAPS should be replaced with the corresponding information, so if you wanted to look at our BTS wallet, for instance, you could find it at http://cryptofresh.com/u/blocktrades, and our Steem wallet can be found at http://steemd.com/@blocktrades

BitShares (BTS)

Bitcoin (BTC)

Bitcoin Cash (BCH)

Dash

Dogecoin (DOGE)

Ethereum (ETH)

Litecoin (LTC)

Monero (XMR)

Steem (Steem and SBD)

And while it's not technically a "block explorer," SteemIt is a great resource for checking whether a transaction has made it to a wallet:

This is a good place to start if you're having trouble. Generally you can look up either your or our wallet address or account name on the explorer to locate your individual transaction, or if you have registered your email address with us you can simply click the link to the specific transaction.

2.png

Transactions can sometimes take a long time to "confirm" when their respective blockchain is busy, particularly with BTC or ETH, and you'll be able to view this as well on the block explorers. Until the transaction shows "confirmed" the cryptocurrency has not actually left your wallet, which means that we haven't received it to be able to complete your trade. This also means that if the transaction times out or fails before confirming that the cryptocurrency will remain in your wallet, and it should reappear after a little time.

What is a "Transaction Hash?"

The "transaction hash" is like an individual receipt for your transaction. Any time you create a transaction on a blockchain it will generate a unique hash that helps you, and us, look up this receipt later on. This is probably the most effective way to ask for assistance on an individual transaction, so make sure you keep a record of these or know how to find them if anything goes wrong!

So what if something goes wrong?

Registering your email address will also provide you with a list of your failed exchanges, which makes it easy to tell if your trade was unable to be completed.

Here's one I messed up earlier today while creating a new Steem account:

3.png

Let's click the magnifying glass on the left to get some more details about this.

4.png

Silly me! Against the warnings I seem to have sent too little Steem to purchase a new account (our account creation costs 4 Steem minimum).

There are other types of errors, or sometimes we forget to feed the hamsters that power our servers, but generally you'll be able to find out what's happened by looking for your trade here. Or otherwise we're always available to answer questions at support@blocktrades.us. Just remember if your account isn't associated with your email address to include the transaction hash or address that you're asking about so that we can find it in our system.

Steem Delegations

There's one more piece of information that you can look up with a registered email address, and that's your active Steem delegations. To view them, first click the account symbol in the top-right of our page and select "Profile"

5.png

Here you view how much Steem Power we currently have delegated to you, the time that it was purchased, and the current expiration date. You can also find your renewal link here by clicking "extend"

We hope you've enjoyed this series, and maybe even learned something new. If you have any lingering questions let us know in the comments, and we'll be sure to address them!

Best regards.

You did a good job!

it always like to see good things from blocktrade .

what type of trade it can manage?

Any of your trades with BlockTrades. We've tried to develop a system that's easy to use and helps our customers keep track of their transactions with us, but if there are features you feel we're missing please let us know!

I don't know about Delegate. Did you tell me about that

It's a system Steem added that basically works like leasing Steem Power - you get ~8.7x as much SP for a duration of 90 days (which can be extended at a slightly discounted rate) as opposed to buying it directly at a 1:1 ratio. A lot of people use it to get more power for their upvotes or to increase their bandwidth when first starting out.

what is the proses of this system

I also wanna know.

For yourself, you can simply choose "Steem Power Delegation" as your output coin and create it like a normal trade. We will also send a link in an encrypted message to your Steem account that takes you to a personal page where you can purchase more time for your delegations. Once the time runs up our system automatically takes the delegation back, so there's nothing further you need to worry about.

@blocktrades-help this is looking good .. i will try to use it

I should probably leave a comment here to be noticed hoping that I will eventually receive a big upvote..thanks in advance

I am confused, did you tell me about that???

how to trades in binance? please hlp me anybody

I'm not clear on the specifics of how Binance handles transactions, but I'll do my best.

Typically an exchange will provide you with either an address to send to or a memo to attach to a transaction when sending money into the exchange, or when transferring out you should be able to use Binance's interface to send to the deposit address that our service generates.

This guide covers the basics of how to initiate a trade with our system, and may prove helpful to you:

this seems very useful thanks for sharing

I'm sure you're familiar with the high failure rate of day traders (80%-98% within two years, depending on your source). Not trying to be an ass, but how us your investing method different than the typical day trader?

Our trading methodology isn't at all similar to that used by a standard day trader. We actually use a multi-pronged growth strategy, which includes traditional strategies such as 1) market-making, 2) arbitraging, 3) algorithmic trading, and 4) strategic long term investments based on fundamental analysis. In addition, we employ some crypto-specific investment techniques such as mining. And we also derive income from software contracts and software licensing arrangements.

But on the most practical level, the biggest difference in our methodology is in the results: while most day traders fail within a few years (I haven't done any research on this point, but I'm willing to accept your data for the sake of argument), we've had tremendous success since our founding in 2015. I haven't done a recent analysis, but the last time I checked our net asset value grew at a rate of 37 times a corresponding investment in Bitcoin over the company's lifetime and over 7 times a corresponding investment in Ether over the company's lifetime.

very nice and interesting

Will you support EOS? How about creating all-in-one wallet of those coins listed on your service?

It's our general policy to avoid commenting on potential coin listings until we are ready to "go live" with that coin.

An all-in-one wallet service is definitely something we could add, but another possibility is that we could just partner with another company that offers that service. It's too early at this point for us to make a decision on the issue, especially as we have a lot of other new projects going on already.

Very useful..the new will get help from your article

@blocktrades-help will i get the exchanged Steem directly to my steemit account ?

Yep! No tricks, no gates - you send us money from any wallet and we'll send your output coin to any wallet of your choosing. And Steem transactions are really fast: I usually see mine completed in seconds.

@blocktrades-help I have a question, If you have converted to steem delegation power for 90 days and after the 90th day does it go to steem power.

When delegations expire they return to the original owner.

Delegations are like leases, or renting SP. You can't power it down, and you don't earn interest on it, but it does give you more bandwidth and make your upvotes more powerful while you have it. You can extend the period, but once it runs out it gets returned to us (minus a 7-day period before we can use it again)

Hi @blocktrades, apologies if I'm inquiring here. Just need your help to verify my transaction.

Transaction hash: 0x1aa5cd415a015351b1f300fd47a50ebc57e8532065822f5b1a734d130c461f5e

Deposit address: 0x2b78a837c37549539c62ab54a235a8e19fea812f

In my ETH wallet, it says that the transfer is already completed but, until now I haven't receive the "steem" in my steem account.

Any reason on the delay?

Thanks
