We live in a mostly based on a mercantilist, consumerist and competitivista system, where everything is transformed into consumer goods for competition between each other world. This system needs for its survival rib survival of every human or animal, of mere consumers without community awareness. To achieve this uses consumer propaganda, not information based on the scientific method. This creates users zombies, unable to reason about the harmful effects that cause it consumes unnecessarily. To avoid that we become slaves of zombies and consumerist system need tools that block this kind of propaganda, for it there are ad blockers like this.
uBlock is not a mere ad blocker; It is a general purpose blocker. Blocks ads as it supports syntax Adblock Plus filters, but extends this syntax and is designed to work with rules and custom filters. According to its creators leaves a footprint very light CPU and memory and, despite this, you can load and enforce thousands of filters used by other popular blockers such as AdBlock Plus (ABP) or Ghostery. These lists include EasyList, EasyPrivacy, Malware Domains, and others that allow you to block crawlers, social widgets and more. It also brings support for hosts files and lets you add other sources in addition to those who come "factory".

Adblock, free alternative and super lightweight Adblock Plus
uBlock
uBlock works on both Chromium / Chrome and Firefox and, unlike Ghostery is distributed using the GPLv3 license, so it is a free software tool. While Ghostery is very efficient, not only is not free software but there are serious suspicions that through the "GhostRank" function sells data on blocked ads to their own advertising companies. Instead, I recommend you try other free alternatives, such as Disconnect or uBlock. Another point to consider is that uBlock -as well as ABP, AdGuard, and some others it allows users to enter their own filters, something not possible with Ghostery or Disconnect.
In my experience, since I use uBlock, browsing speed has been a truly remarkable leap. In addition, websites are more "clean" and without much superfluous content that distracts me. As if this were not enough, unlike Adblock Plus (ABP), uBlock uses significantly fewer resources. Here are some comparative charts to prove it.

The fact that uBlock agile and efficient does not mean that blocks less crawlers.
Number of blockings
In my opinion, this point requires a brief warning. uBlock not block some default widgets Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc. other extensions if they block. This requires activating some third-party filters (which are already available in uBlock) and Anti-ThirdpartySocial or Fanboy's Social Blocking List. Finally, you have to play around with lists until you find the balance sought. Another option, slightly more complex, is to enable the advanced options and set dynamic filter rules.
Installing uBlock
Installation is very simple, simply install for the web browser you use extension.
