Venezuela officially launched the sale of the state-owned crypto currency Petro, said vice president of the South American Republic Tareck El Aissami.
"The day when Venezuela launched its crypto currency, provided with its own reserves and natural resources, will go down in history," he stressed.
On the government portal created for the crypto-currency, a manual has been published for those who wish to acquire Petro, which can become natural and legal persons residing in Venezuela, as well as citizens of foreign countries.
According to El Aissami, Petro users will provide themselves with confidence and security on the national and international market.
In total, 100 million units of Petro will be produced. At the first stage, 82.4 million tokens will be available to investors. The price of one coin is equal to a barrel of Venezuelan oil - about $ 60. Thus, Petro is positioned as the only crypto currency that will be provided with a real asset.
