I am amazed by the ingenuity exhibited here. The rates paid for shipping having been suppressed for a long, long time, which is good for consumers, but obviously not good for the carriers or the seamen.
We've all heard about the enormous abandoned ship "graveyards" in Indonesia and elsewhere. This is because of an unannounced depression in global trade, as well as an over-capacity in cargo ships.
I am curious how changing the medium of exchange will affect these underlying factors, if at all.
