From an idealistic standpoint, seeing somebody like Bernanke working with Ripple makes me cringe. I'm pretty anti-Fed and this feels like a betrayal of what most cryptocurrency aims to accomplish. As far as for the value of Ripple, though, this sort of "celebrity" endorsement could do wonders, I guess...
