For over a decade now, the search engine preferences of internet users all over the world as being the Almighty Google.
Google has been the gatekeeper of the World Wide Web (WWW) pointing searchers to where they should go online. Because every Internet Users are in Google's search market, the Google Search Engine website google.com becomes the most visited website in the whole wide world.
In 2014, Eli Schwartz a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) contributor on http://searchengineland.com/ conducted a comprehensive survey to discover the search engine preferences of internet users and learn who truly dominates the search market.
ALL HAIL THE KING OF SEARCH MARKET - Google
Before Eli Schwartz's survey result, most people have always believed that Google's search engine market share was not more than 60% of the total search engine market.
With the result of his comprehensive survey, Eli proofs that Google actually controls 80% of the search engine market.
According to a page published on July 2017 on netmarketshare.com, a company that publishes interactive web pages on market share statistics for Internet Technologies.
Google controls 81.12% of the search engine market share on desktop and a whopping 96.38% of the search engine market share on Mobile/Tablet.

ABUSE OF THE DOMINANCE IN THE SEARCH MARKET
On the 27 June 2017, the European Commission published a press release on its official website wherein the Union fines Google a sum of €2.42 billion for breaching EU antitrust rules.
The EU claims Google was abusing dominance as a search engine by giving an illegal advantage to own comparison shopping service.
According to the press release, Google uses its search engine result page to direct consumers to another of its product called Google Shopping.
When a consumer enters a query into the Google search engine in relation to which Google's comparison shopping service wants to show results, these are displayed at or near the top of the search results.
Just like every centralized app, the Google search engine developers, and investors became too greedy. They saw their invention as an avenue to amass wealth for themselves.
Fear not, for there is a solution to their greed.
INTRODUCING - Presearch: presearch.io
Imagine a decentralized search engine, powered by a community and rewards everyone in the community according to their input into the search engine.
Presearch is an open, decentralized search engine that rewards community members with Presearch Tokens (PST) for their usage, contribution to, and promotion of the platform.
Presearch has a unique strategy to target the most active web searchers and gain early adoption. The developers believe Presearch will become an open source platform that will utilize a blockchain-based index, curated by the community.

Competition is always good for the consumer. It's kind of surprising that there aren't more options in 2017. I don't mind Google, but I miss the old "wild west" days of the internet sometimes where we did have more choices. @trendhobo
Google dominate everything in the past year, in fact I started blogging way back 2004 to get a fraction from Google gold rush. In my opinion Google practice greed and dominance abuse long before with its google spider and robot were only website with google robot will put index in google search. Furthermore, ads is always on the top fold of search result. I think the new blockchain back search engine will be the game changer.
Thanks for this thoughtful comment. The days of the Big G are numbered.
Yes I agree with you @lucashunter ;D
hehe last week i was thinking about the same thing that we need a new search engine, thanks for this article without it i would not have know about this project :)
Yes it is the right time we keep Google where it belongs, I fully support a blockchain powered Search Engine. Am glad you liked it.
Huh. Presearch suddenly got on my radar a whole lot in the past 24 hours. Exciting notion but if you wanna be the best, you gotta beat the best. How's the actual search functionality?

David vs. Goliath - but we all know that sometimes the giant can be beaten.
You are right and that would be the case with Presearch vs. Google. Thank you!
I broke up with facebook not too long ago now i have made up my mind not to have anything wit google any more. What a life?
I support the divorce. I broke up with them too, those greedy dudes.
Yes! I love this post. Great post!. I can not wait to be an early adopter.
How does this sounds Steemit is to Facebook as presearch is to google?
Sounds perfect! You are a genius.
Thank you!
It's needed.
Highly needed! I say again Highly needed!
An unbiased search engine would be great but would take a lot of effort to maintain.
A lot of effort truly, and also a journey of a thousand years begin in a day.
Thanks for bringing this info in! I think I like their plans better than some other search alternatives I've encountered over the years!
More reason why I shared it here. But please do your research before investing.
we need decentralised search engine where we can earn sbd from using it :)
That'd be cool. It's not crypto, but Bing does let you earn giftcards for using their search engine. I'm sure it could work similarly to that. I earned a few $5 Amazon giftcards that way.
It should be along that line but now to our advantage because of how volatile the crypto market is. It is still in the ICO stage at the moment, so we have to wait to see how it goes.
Yes please!
