Warning: this is a train that passes only once, and it is going right in these years. If we lose it, it will be lost forever, because if we allow others to take advantage, to "plant the flag" on these new territories, the gap that we accumulate will be irrecoverable.
But what are these other states that are taking advantage of being "jumped on the train" of the Blockchain in time?
First of all Switzerland, as we all know. The country bordering Italy, which also speaks Italian, is working hard to put its companies in the best conditions to make the most of this moment.
Even in China they are doing a lot to do, despite the ban on cryptocurrencies (which however makes water on all sides).
Another very active state is the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and in particular Dubai.
But perhaps the United States of America is the most formidable competitor. In fact, after an initial moment of "loss", the USA is catching up. In particular, the question is occupied by even the same Congress of the United States (their Parliament), thanks to a partnership with IBM and MIT.
The US seems to really want to take the "big step", probably just to try to beat the competition and become the most attractive state in the world for projects based on Blockchain or DLT. In theory, they have what it takes to become one, just as China has, and in theory, the European Union would have, but the big difference is that they, like China, are already working in this direction.
For the time being, the EU has limited itself to creating a working group, in April 2018, which does not seem to have produced results for months, and has promulgated in July 2018 the cryptocurrency directives that the Member States will have to implement by 2020 In short, many words, very long times, but nothing concrete, and just as instead the US and China already produce and release operational instruments based on these new technologies.
That is, they do, we talk and take time, without realizing that it is not going anywhere. We will certainly end up being forced to "chase", and we will accumulate a delay against them that we will never be able to recover. In short, this game has already won the US and China, and for now we can only hope to be able to overturn the result (which, realistically, we will not be able to overturn).
Although these are global technologies, American and Chinese companies will mainly exploit them to the fullest, and we will be forced (as often happens) to be content with crumbs.
