Lego Blockchain collectors set with 285 000 pieces and a great explanation of Bitcoin Blockchain using Lego

in #blockchain7 years ago

I love building stuff with Lego blocks with the kids, and as I was searching for some ideas to build our next masterpiece I stumbled upon an article about the Lego Blockchain set, which I found very interesting. I am not sure if it is true, but it is a great idea.

LEGO Releases 285,800 Piece Bitcoin Blockchain Collector Set

DENMARK – Today LEGO announced the release of its most ambitious collector’s item yet, the LEGO Bitcoin Blockchain, containing 285,800 individual blocks.

“Each piece represents a block in the Bitcoin blockchain,” LEGO marketing executive Lloyd Hammond said. “At 285,800 pieces, it’s definitely geared towards some of our most dedicated LEGO collectors; although children are of course welcome to give it a try – just be careful that the box doesn’t break and bury you in an avalanche,” he added.

The completed LEGO blockchain reaches a length of 31 metres, and also comes with 3 mini-figs: the Winklevii and one Bitcoin Miner. LEGO enthusiasts who purchase the set are also encouraged to keep up with the real Bitcoin blockchain, as LEGO plans on releasing expansion sets at the rate of about 1 every 10 minutes until the year 2140.

As is searched further I found an incredible site explaining the detail around the Bitcoin Blockchain with Lego pieces on Imgur.

A Bitcoin transaction occurs

someone with fiat cash buys bitcoin from a miner, exchange, or vendor on locabitcoins.com. therefore a transaction occurs that needs to be inputted into the blockchain. the blockchain is made up of a series of blocks. blocks are created by solving math problems by miners. once a block is created by solving the math problem, miners can pour transactions into them which verifies them as valid. after a transaction is confirmed by a mined block it is irreversible.

Bitcoin Miners hard at work

here we have some miners working on solving the equation/creating a block. as you can see one miner is really close to solving the next block because he has better tools then the others (more computing power to solve equations).

Blocks which were mined are confirmed.

further down the chain you can see these two blocks that have already been mined and confirmed. on one side of the block you can see a guy with a radio broadcasting the answer to the block. since there is only one of him, there is only one confirmation of this block. Further down the chain there are two more guys with radios (nodes) broadcasting the solution to this block to the network. since there are two of them, there are two confirmations for this block. the further back in time you go the more confirmations a block will have. the first block ever created has the most confirmations.

Miners being rewarded

on this side of the chain you can see the successful miners to these blocks collecting their reward for solving the math problem.

If anyone wish to understand the full Bitcoin creation process, please have a look at the site. It really explains the process in laymen's terms. All credit to the images to Abrbitradingbull from Imgur. You can view more detail on his page
