Blockchain and its future beyond Bitcoin

in #blockchain7 years ago (edited)

Future is changing and you are big part of it because you are using Steem!

With recent attention and interest pouring into blockchain and cryptocurrency projects, I believe we are still start of much bigger bubble and adoption. As of today, global cryptocurrency market cap passed $72B and millions of people joining in daily...

Hype and speculations stage is now being history because we are really seeing blockchain technology emerging, scaling, solving problems and improving lives.

What amazes me most, is to see how Blockchain events happening all over the world for last few years and have been increasing rapidly.

Our own favorite SteemFest is the one special that we all eagerly wait and have enjoyed last year, being one example, there are dozen more events from community meetups to much bigger VCs oriented events, hackathons, etc...

Consensus 2017 is one of the events that is being anticipated by most and is also playing big role to promote technology and projects. Just looking at agenda and speakers list you can understand that blockchain and all those projects picking up interest from VCs and other mainstream companies (Microsoft, IBM, Citi, etc.), overall users.

Announcement of EOS is something to be excited about because projects like these continue to push boundaries and innovate, just like we have here, amazing community coming together with power of Steem and powering Steem

Get access to livestream to not miss out on announcements and talks!

I know there will be many events happening in parallel, hope some of you guys who is joining will also keep us updated with your videos and photos!

As always,

Steem on!

I am also amazed to your work. thanks for work the best for steemit comunity

I agree, it seems like we at the start of something BIG here!
Also, thanks for the update on some of the Blockchain events.

Does anyone know a good post only for blockchain events? I am looking for place where everyone can contribute for an updated reality of the events happening and their history. I will vote for someone doing it... for sure.

I could not think how big cryptocurrency will be in the next 2 years.

Yes, this space is radically changing and that's why you hear people saying 2 years in blockchain space is like 2 decades, a lot can change just in few months

It is also going to be interesting to see what cryptocurrencies will be around in the next 2 years

i think u should think now.. u r millionaire!!! right??? start to plan big now.

Its good to think that im a millionaire :) funny

It's fascinating watching the whole thing unfold and develop. There will be winners and losers along the way, but I believe STEEM has a shot at being something very significant.

Exact my thoughts, current climb is overdue growth in a way that for the last year or so we have had stalling/bearish market with occasional ups and downs.

Steem is at least a unique platform for now and a first mover in the space so that should put it good stead for the future hopefully.

Hi therre. I tried using esteem again but everytime i wanted to comment it wont post. It says that I need authorization. What password is accepted in esteem by the way?

Hey @juvyjabian,
When logging in you should use master/main password, but you can also login with your posting and active privatekey by enabling Advanced option on login screen. Btw, update is coming soon...

It is not a question of "if" Crypto will be mainstream, it is just a question of "when"

Exactly and it is already happening

I hope you're right. I'm banking on it. Literally.

@condra don't invest money you can't afford to lose

it's really great to be a part of something revolutionary, almost like creating history! better late than never, i guess :)

I still would say you are not late at all. Most of the experts in the industry feel we are in the "early adopter phase" of the technology development cycle. The image below is just an example of the what the tech dev cycle looks like. I got the image from http://prod.sandia.gov/techlib/access-control.cgi/2013/133933.pdf

On point bud!

@tnkspe119 it's always been a case of what if, 'what if I'd adopted it a few years ago'. interesting information, thanks for sharing and it's good to know we're going to be a part of an exciting future.

I have seen this chart before and heard that we are still in 'early adopters'. I frequently ask
strangers - at a park, in line, party, etc. if they have any BTC and most do not even know what it is. Those that do know think it is 'internet money' and have no idea of the world changing blockchain ledger smart contracts, etc. At age 69 I am wondering how much change I will see, I expect a lot!

Bitcoins will be hacked just wait :D
giphy.gif

There are dozen more projects that offer what bitcoin is offering, as I mentioned it is not all about bitcoin anymore 😊

Its also about steem :)

Yes, exactly... Steem offers much more than what bitcoin offers. But bitcoin and its network effect contributes to all these new projects...

I have been saying for a couple of years that when BTC gets to 50-100k will will see hacking
like never before in the history of the internet. This is when the problems will be solved, if not,
it will be total disaster when BTC gets to 1 million!

I agree with you, the world is leaning toward technology more & more maybe we will have a cashless system in the future!

Blockchain future is bright but it is raising a host of policy questions ,about financial stability, consumer protection, choking off terrorists’ finances, and tensions between established and upstart financial institutions and between regulatory agencies.

People want safety and simplicity and Steem can hit the mainstream by adding value. I like where this is going...

Indeed!

agree, but we must face when more people join, more scale more slower in this decentralize system.

That's why we have highly scalable solutions like Steem and other Graphene chains. There are other projects in the space working on scalability solutions, I am sure we will have chance to test them soon :)

cool learn!, i'm new to steem, I though it is same as way of bitcoin system.
So steem doesn't run like decentralize way? or what's concept of it

Welcome! It is decentralized, censorship resistance, rewarding social blockchain! :)

i am new to steem, but since i register now i begin to leave another socmed.
tbh, before i am here i spend 2 hours on my facebook but now 30minutes in two days, and you know what ? i forgot to log in to my bitcointalk, i forgot another ICO..huftttt

Glad to hear that, it means Steem is doing it suppose to do :)

Cryptocurrency is growing exponentially. Though I do worry about a lot of these alt coins that have nothing to offer and huge market caps. When those bubbles pop, regulators will focus on the industry because people who don't know what they're doing and want to get rich quick, will run crying to them.

You are right, that's why one should always do due diligence and learn fundamentals of each project before putting money on any of these projects.

We have yet to tap the potential of blockchain. It's already solving issues of income inequality in the world. Next up: Housing and healthcare.

I agree, noticed few projects that are commodity-backed blockchains as well, which is awesome to see.

i prefer we think about how blockchain can help human healthcare first. steemit is enough for social media.

Have heard this Steemfest thing so much, I wonder what it is....

Check out @steemfest account to learn more about last year's event! 😉

Thanks, I will check it out.

Got my very first mining done today. As a nearly computer illiterate, middle aged mother of three, it took e forever to learn enough to be able to mine. Luckily my husband is good with hardware so now that I know how to do the set up end of things, we are looking into building a dedicated rig.

Interested to know what you think would be the best crypto to mine at this point?

Cool, I don't mine often but I like privacy coins that are mostly undervalued, check them out, Ian sure they will get more attention coming months 😉

Thanks for sharing. Do you think bitcoin will be able to adapt to the demands of the crypto-market before becoming completely outdated and overcome by the more progressive alt-coins?

I don't think it will be able to handle scaling, but other projects will always play role in adoption and may very well take over big part of market!

You are right here, we are only at the beginning! What coins will be the ones to keep an eye on in the future?

Definitely, Steem, Bts, Eth, Eos, Xmr, I am sure many more :)

Congratulations @good-karma!

How would you like this idea? please share it as much as possible.

A crypto exchange on blockchain with the own crypto as a basic currency.
The value of the crypto currency will be a constant number - linked to the computing power to create a block inside the chain itself.

There are similar projects that are being created as we speak by some ehtnusiasts like NVO.

But they are missing the core element - basic currency of the future crypto world to measure the value.

This such a far-fetched idea, that will literally change the perception of money and make such resource as computing power the new main resource of the world

I think within 10 years banks will no longer exist. And governments will be threatened by the use of Blockchain technology because people will be able to organize themselves without any intervention.

Good article ! :D Thank you.

thank god.. im still early adopter.. while more poeple still sleeping in this blockchain evolution.

Thanks for your post.

I would love to help organise one of those SteemFest in my country. I've been organising a lot of public events with Google and other Networking Groups at my locality. Is there any formats or guidelines where I can get more info ?
