GaiaWorld blockchainto Build the First Gaming Blockchain (Part II)

in #blockchain7 years ago (edited)

The world’s gaming industry is embracing an ever prosperous growth. Blockchain technology is pushing up the ceiling of traditional gaming industry even higher with the revenue of the global gaming market to grow beyond $130B, according to authoritative estimate. With that said, early market response has told yet another story about blockchain + game application. Many trailblazers of blockchain game are having a hard time.

So, why do blockchain games struggle when blockchain technology combines with gaming industry, the most substantial online traffic access point, as a capital magnet for many ambitious internet giants?

First and foremost, Ethereum is not robust to cope with the quite demanding high-performance scenarios of blockchain games.CryptoKitties, a popular blockchain game triggered congestion on the Ethereum network last year, has resulted in an industry-wide reconsideration. The primary reason here is that Ethereum, as the foundation of most blockchain games, uses the Proof of Work (PoW) algorithm to reach consensus, dealing with 15 transactions per second; while games are fields compacted with gamers, featuring high transaction volume and high concurrency. It is obvious that Ethereum can not handle such a gigantic scale of gaming transactions.

Limited types of blockchain games today

Second, lacking a generally accepted gaming blockchain, developers have to base quite a few of their games on blockchains of financial system. However, as many applications at the superstructure of the system haven’t been well developed due to stringent control over the financial sector and high trial-and-error cost, most of these games are nothing more than prototypes.

Third, a more just and open mechanism should be in place to protect game data. For gamers, “only the server could prove that I have a coin”. They are somehow ‘restricted’ since their digital assets are hosted on servers of respective game companies, which means their data are prone to theft, deletion or falsification on private platforms.

Last but not least, the shortest board for the bucket of gaming industry is that gamers are unable to transfer their data between games supported on centralized platforms. Although some ‘universal’ tokens are available, such as QQ coins of Tencent and points of Blizzard Battle.net, they circulate only within the product matrix of each company instead of being cross-platform interchangeable.

The analysis above suggests that the industry is still going on an arduous journey to explore a stable commercial model that combines game and blockchain given the fact that a universal underlying platform is not available to support high-performance and well-compatible blockchain games. The ship of blockchain games needs a capable public chain to steer it towards a flourish future and GaiaWorld is ready to be the problem solver.

GaiaWorld, the preacher of blockchain for better games

GaiaWorld has committed to the development of underlying technology of gaming blockchain. By implementing Competitive-Proof-of-Stake (CPoS), Gaia Parachain (our parallel chain technology), Gaia Shield protocol, and other core technologies, we hope to scale up the understructure of blockchain and boost its computing capability with an expectation to build a faster and more affordable blockchain system that is more compatible and gamer-friendly.

To facilitate application of gaming blockchain and help maintain the health of gaming industry, GaiaWorld is ready to provide efficient and accurate cutting-edge solutions.

Strengths of GaiaWorld

  1. GaiaWorld has introduced the first-ever parallel chain technology to break the performance bottleneck of blockchain games. Using the same coding system and consensus algorithm (POS) as the main chain, developers are able to build parallel chains in a new application mode to prevent data congestion without adding extra load to the main chain. A gamer-dominated gaming eco-system is possible to allow for data sharing and asset swap in safer extension blocks at higher transaction throughput and lower cost.
  2. Gaia Shield protocol aims at use and operation of extra-chain data, which is impossible for traditional smart contracts. In the GAIA blockchain architecture, we have provided a verified safe gateway system to enable codes running on a GAIA chain to use extra-chain data over the Gaia Shield protocol. This will not only drastically expand the application boundary of smart contracts, but also smash the barrier isolating the virtual wonderland from the real world, building a link between games and the reality, and even enabling the exchange of physical and virtual assets.
  3. VRF generator. Given the fact that traditional games are somewhat less fair, GaiaWorld introduces VRFs to make games more impartial and credible. This will in turn allow unbiased application scenarios for gambling and other segments in the game.
  4. Competitive-Proof-of-Stake (CPoS). For better blockchain operation efficiency and environment, GaiaWorld has designed an innovative competition-based PoS model to increase the efficiency of blockchain significantly while ensuring its security. In the online test, we can make it to 1000tps, which undoubtedly promises a remarkable speed improvement of blockchain in the future.
  5. GAIA Virtual Machine (VM) is in place to support seamless transfer of Ethereum smart contracts. A complete independent sandbox, GAIA VM isolates the operation of blocks from that of the main blockchain to make the game more harmonious and efficient as a whole.

To be honest, it would not be better for the industry that all games could run on the blockchain someday. Nonetheless, we are all clear that Rome wasn’t built in a day and tons of work is waiting for us to overcome the challenges of underlying technologies. The key for blockchain to lead the revolution of gaming industry lies in the breakthrough of these technologies. Diving deep into this field, GaiaWorld will never stop exploring developing a blockchain gaming eco-system and building the first gaming blockchain. We are confident that more partners will be interested in creating games with more diversified experiences.

Of course, we are looking for with eager hearts for that day to come.
