A book written by Joaquín López Lérida and José Juan Mora Pérez, we present an introductory text on blockchain technology. Literature in Spanish on this subject was scarce and the resources were scattered by different blogs and web pages. Although it is an introductory text, it shows us some objectives of how to advance in the keys of the business models that will be able to be launched from this technology in the coming years. The reader can quickly verify that it is not a technical document, although given the nature of the proposal, we wanted to devote some chapters to the technological bases of blockchain with the idea of not leaving the approach of the business models in a bet purely theoretical black box.

Therefore, the objective has been to open the way to the monetization of this technology, of how future applications can be to which place and how they are going to adapt the environments of the digital world that are already operational today. Finally, it could not be a black box model, so the authors have decided to introduce high-level technical concepts that allow us to glimpse, if at all, the technological bases that support the business models that are proposed.

The book does not stop being an introduction to blockchain technologies and business models that will be considered in the future that is already here. It is not easy to see trends in a technological environment that changes practically every day, and probably we will have made mistakes, but the evolutionary patterns of blockchain economic models we think are set in the right direction.

... The blockchain technology with all its associated ecosystem, comes to solve a problem at the origin of the Internet, such as trust in transactions and the possibility of launching asset exchange systems that do not require real-world procedures to be able to work. From there, business models and their possibilities are multiplied and what we have at present hardly represents vaguely what the future may hold for this technology.

Focusing on the distribution of the book, in the first part (chapters 1, 2 and 3) we have analyzed the blockchain versions and the business models that it proposes. The analysis is done by taking real examples that already work now in some cases and considering trends already contrasted in others when the first has not been possible. In the second part the technology is approached from a simple and accessible point of view, with the aim that the reader can understand the bases of the operation. We think that this approach is sufficiently brief and high level to make it accessible to any reader and sufficiently documented at the same time, as to be able to open the mind to the approach and the discussion of the business models of blockchain, which in the last case is the objective of the book. We hope we have achieved it. All the chapters are based on short sections, focused on a single concept, with a development that grows in complexity, but that is structured in a logical and sequential manner.
