Current decentralized ledger pitfalls:

With the recent rise of decentralized ledger technologies and the emergence of blockchain protocols such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, EOS and others, we have seen many different flavors and developments ontop of and utilizing decentralized ledger’s. With this increase in utility and usages, we have also seen problems emerge such as centralization. It’s common knowledge in inner circles that blockchains such as Bitcoin and Ethereum are highly centralized due to a few extremely large centralized miners that can control the network. Using their hashing power as leverage, it enables them to manipulate network transaction speeds and thus control the network.

As more professional companies such as Fortune 500 companies realize the power of decentralized ledger technology, the more companies examine technology options in which to build their technology on. Many of these Fortune 500 and other companies have strong foresight and prefer not to get involved in markets that can be manipulated in the future. We have already seen market manipulation via hashing power in both Bitcoin and the Ethereum blockchains; Its natural that fortune 500 companies and companies that want to avoid market manipulation via hash power will select a truly decentralized platform, such as Ravencoin.

Additionally, as more companies look to create securitized digital assets and back traditional securities/equities by tokenization there will be an increased demand for protocols that cater directly to the creation and management of security tokens. Ethereum was built to be a digital asset platform with Smart Contracts. Ravencoin is created to be a digital asset platform, specializing in creating token securities with token creation built right into Ravencoin’s native protocol. Ravencoin incorporates smart contracts, atomic swaps, and more using RSK and the Lightening Network.

Why Ravencoin:

The success of the Ethereum ERC20 token shows the demand for tokenized assets. Tokens offer many advantages to traditional shares or other participation mechanisms such as faster transfer, possibly increased user control and censorship resistance and reduction or elimination of the need for trusted third parties.

Bitcoin also has the capability of serving as the rails for tokens by using projects such as Omnilayer, RSK or Counterparty. However, neither Bitcoin nor Ethereum was specifically designed for facilitating ownership of other assets.

Ravencoin is designed to be a use case specific blockchain designed to efficiently handle one specific function: the transfer of assets from one party to another.

In the new global economy, borders and jurisdictions will be less relevant as more assets are tradable and trade across borders is increasingly frictionless. In an age where people can move significant amounts of wealth instantly using Bitcoin, global consumers will likely demand the same efficiency for their securities and similar asset holdings.

Ravencoin is the only blockchain platform designed for creating and launching decentralized security tokens from the ground up.

Chainstone Labs

  • Chainstone lab will use Ravencoin for all of Chainstones digital asset hosting

Details:

  • Open Source project (Not your typical Cryptocurrency project)
  • Community Driven
  • Active Github
  • Fork of Bitcoin Blockchain and will incorporate RSK, X16R
  • Smart Contracts available in both Solidity and other programming languages
  • powered by RSK
  • Built for creation and launching of Security Tokens
  • ASIC mining Resistant

Advantages over Ethereum:

  • Created for Security Tokens (Digital assets classified as Securities)
  • Will allow dividends
  • Will allow on-chain messaging
  • Built for Digital Asset Transfers, specifically security tokens
  • Rumored Atomic Swap capabilities
  • More Decentralized than other blockchains
  • Creating sub-tokens native in the protocol layer
  • Overstock.com resources and developers working on the chain
  • ASIC resistance, wider and more fair token distribution

In comparing Ravencoin to Bitcoin’s development timeline, Bitcoin had less than one-dozen miners on the Bitcoin blockchain at this stage of development. Currently Ravencoin has thousands

Coming up:

  • Ravencoin will integrate with RSK.
  • Shorter blocktimes will become native to protocol once RSK is integrated, and RSK will enable Ethereum Smart Contracts on the Ravencoin Blockchain
  • Roadmap and New Whitepaper released early April 2018.

Token Utility:

  • Use RVN to pay for deployment of Smart Contracts
  • Use RVN to pay for transaction fee’s on the Ravencoin Protocol
  • Dividends will be paid to security token holders in RVN

Token Details:

Ticker: RVN
Algorithm: X16R
Block Time: 1 Minute
Block Reward: 5000 RVN
Total Coin Supply: 21 Billion
