De/node: Blockchain Literacy is the KEY to Mass Adoption

in #blockchain6 years ago (edited)

Mass Adoption.

It's been uttered by every Technologist, CEO and VC involved in the space. It's the holy grail of all emerging tech and at the moment its the panacea that blockchain and DLT technologies can't seem to nail down.

Why?

Perhaps the protocols are too nebulous to for the masses? Maybe the technology isn't delivering on it's promise. Or, perhaps - the most obvious issue - people don't f***ing understand what it is.

In my humble opinion: It's all the above.

Emerging tech traditionally is lacking in the usability department. Tracking the history of personal computing, enterprise software, AI and the invent of the internet and we can all see one trend: Slow adoption. It's the biggest hurdle emerging technology has to overcome.

I've been involved in crypto for well over two year - and have been following the emergence of bitcoin since 2012 - and I STILL have problems understanding and using the technology. Getting into this space is not easy. It's a hell of a learning curve and although the tech is getting better, it's no where near where it needs to be to be rolled out on a mass scale.

Therein lies the problem. How to we get the million of people who stand to benefit from the promise that blockchain has brought us - to actually use it? I think the answer is obvious. Perhaps so blatantly obvious that folks look right past it.

Blockchain literacy. It's not a new concept.

People just don't trust what they don't understand.

Who's teaching the masses in a accessible, yet comprehensive way on how DLT can solve real world problems. Or how DLT is already at work doing helping to eliminate voter fraud? Or is helping refugees claim resources in camps? A cursory search tells me: no one.

I haven't found a single resource online that's accessible, well-produced and engaging. There's no shortage of explainer videos explaining specific protocols or technology stacks, or unedited, 40-minute skype interviews with COO's about the steps that John Doe Whoever has to take to get people "engaging in their coin..." but where are the documented real use cases.

Prospective users and investors want to see the tech working. The proof is in the pudding.

That's the space De/node is hoping to fill. We're a turnkey production company partnering with REAL companies who are doing REAL good in the space. De/Node is not a place for small emerging teams to shill their coin - it's real conversations with technologists, CEO's and thought leaders discussing how their projects are solving real-world problems that add value to humanity. Think VICE meets BIG THINK. That's the space De/node exists in.

We're currently in post-production on a handful of videos we shot at the Tulip Conference in SF last June. We'll be posting exclusively to Dtube and Steem and are excited to bring you high-quality videos and animation that the space so badly needs.

Here's a few screen shots with some of our interviewees.
