Lately, people familiar with the world of Indonesia makin cryptocurrency, engaged in it, creating a technology-based blockchain project, and choose the option of funding the projects through its ICOs (Initial Coin Offerings). A little over a week ago I saw a new project coming from Lithuania, Birdchain. The project is promising a new revolution in SMS messaging segment B2C (Business to Consumer), by way of exerting unused SMS from mobile phones per person. The project is thus quite caught my attention, probably because in this project already developed over ten years ago by people who are quite experienced in this field of business.
Every day, komukasi we do with friends or relatives are increasingly moving from the former via SMS to a Messenger, Skype, nor the Viber. However, SMS remains widely used in the business world. Many companies send a message when they try to inform users about the activities in their account, to send a password, confirmation code 2FA, or also the message that contains the latest discount/promotions with. The question becomes, why companies prefer SMS, not through e-mail?
First, the reach of SMS suffice to surprise. If views based on statistics, approximately 90% of SMS will be read in the first three minutes when first received, whereas the email reached only 10-15% only. Second, SMS provides a much better security. SMS are essentially tied in a phone number, so to see its contents, the user must hold their phone with SIMCard card has been installed in it. While E-mail, can be accessed from any PC in the world.
If we look at a glance, it might look will only reach a small segment, but if we imagine how SMS sent by corporate giants like Google, Uber, or Amazon, then we would have had a different view.
