What is Lamden?

Lamden gives individuals, businesses, and architects the tools they need to build blockchain enterprises, and allow the different chains to communicate seemlessly. Lamden introduces a set of tools needed for people to communicate, collaborate, and a set of decentralized blockchain applications that allow it's users to transfer assets over their blockchains.

The Team

The team at Lamden is definitely a little bit smaller than one would hope, but their team is extremely active on their Github, and the team has already launched the testnet for Cilantro. They definitely have enough funds to hire more individuals onto their core team, which, as is, looks solid. But hey, the more the merrier! Right now they're currently looking for a Senior Back-End Dev to add to their team, which I like to see. One thing I would hope for in the near future is that they update some of their photos on their site (and LinkedIn profiles) to make them look as professional as possible because this will make the platform look even more attractive than it already is. Lets take a look at two main members of their team: Stuart Farmer & Jason Yoakam

Stuart Farmer

This isn't Mr. Farmer's first time leading an organization; he was previously the CEO and partner of Logic Labs. At Logic Labs, he helped them build scalable, and deployable mobile applications. Having this experience will really benefit him as the Lead Developer at Lamden!

Jason Yoakam

Mr. Yoakam is currently the Marketing Manager at Lamden, and I think that he is a great man for the job. Many organizations in crypto overlook the necessity of hiring a team member who is specifically in charge of marketing their product. Without a community to use the platform, there would be no use for it! Mr. Yoakam has a nice work resume for marketing where he has done digital marketing, consulting, and even founded his own digital marketing firm, Reach Digital LLC.

The Platform

There are three main applications to Lamden:

  1. Saffron
  2. Flora
  3. Clove

By using these different applications it can allow you to build your own blockchain, and deploy the architecture required as it can be extremely costly, and time consuming by doing it from scratch on your own. By using Lamden, it can help businesses to grow, and keep certain information whether it be patented or sensitive data on a businesses own private blockchain.

Saffron

Saffron is essentially the first step that businesses will use to jump onboard into the blockchain enterprise. Saffron enables anyone to create their own private blockchain, or public if they desire! Since every project is different, users will be able to completely customize how it's created. This can be achieved through pre-made templates, allowing for the blockchain to be created and deployed quickly and cost effectively!

Flora

Flora is the second step towards having a fully functioning blockchain network. By using their smart contract package manager, Flora, developers are able to seamlessly share their code allowing for other devs to see which part of the code is used the most. By using Flora, you are able to jump into building your DAPPs much quicker because of the time that it would save you. You are able to create your smart contract, or you can choose to connect with other communities that are a part of the blockchain. This is similar to the package manager for JavaScript, NPM, where you are able to find reusable code.

Clove

Clove is probably one of the more interesting DAPPs that I have come across. I think that is what keeps Lamden a "needle in the haystack". This DAPP is able to connect different blockchains whether they are private or public, allowing for "chain-to-chain" connection. We have seen a lot of issue with chain-to-chain inoperability most commonly with Bitcoin and Ethereum. One blockchain can not interact with the other. Think of Lamden as the magnet for this type of application, allowing for seamless transfer of information between the interconnected blockchains!

Roadmap

In the last couple months, Lamden has made some great achievements. They started their testnet for "Cilantro", which functions on a DPoS (Delegated Proof of Stake) system. The Cilantro blockchain already is in its Alpha stage, and you are able to check it out on Lamden's testnet: https://testnet.lamden.io/. Lamden is able to achieve 10,000, yes 10,000, transactions per second as well as zero-fees to function on their blockchain because of a "fixed difficulty work and removing proof of work from the backend".

Looking forward, I am most excited about their mainnet launch, which is scheduled to occur in the fourth quarter of this year. By launching the mainnet for Cilantro, it will allow basically any business, architect, or individual to access their technology and deploy it into real world applications!

The Token

Screen Shot 2018-05-12 at 3.29.06 PM.png

The Lamden ecosystem is built around their token, TAU. Their token currently has a circulating supply 142,215,728 TAU, with a maximum supply of 288,090,567 TAU. Opposed to most of the other coins/tokens in cryptocurrency, TAU has no transaction fees. Since TAU doesn't charge a fee to use their platform token through transactions, they require users to purchase the TAU token in order to access the interoperability of their blockchain. This creates demand for the token, making it rise in value, and makes it look more attractive for investors long-term. One of the other interesting aspects about their token is it's ability for "atomic swaps". This will allow for TAU to be used on its decentralized exchange with virtually any coin, or token, whether it's Bitcoin, Ethereum, or any other ERC-20 token.

Nice review, Lamden is really an undervalued project!

Thanks! Definitely agree!
