Power Ledger uses a hybrid blockchain (Proof-of-Stake chain backing up to the bitcoin blockchain) to interface with the major energy provider in Western Australia, for the purpose of making a market to trade rooftop solar energy with other locals. Real homes are trying it out now, and downtown Perth will be using it in January if tests go well.
