BHM day 3 Bill Withers

Happy black history month day 3!

1973 Bill Withers gave to us a retrospect just after the war in Vietnam had been declared over. He made then an important distinction that bears repeating now, which is to say the young men and women in our armed forces are for all intensive purposes removed from the politics of the wars they are fighting. The same as your hand doesn't hesitate or ask questions when you order it about so is the same with the men and women who without hesitation leap head first towards danger. Combat medics who sign up because all they know is that their brothers and sisters need help and that's reason enough for them to put their own life on the line.

We need to consider the human element in today's military conflicts the world over, and take a step back to appreciate the entire picture. We have not been successful at sustainable peace YET! In order to achieve a different result we have to try a different tactic which can't involve the use of force and violence, there will be no true progress until we can make a commitment to non-violence!

Thanks to artists like Bill Withers we can take a step back almost 50 years to get a glimpse of the human experience, so that we might pay homage and gain perspective on our journey as we move forward.
