A huge statue of an angel, created from knives

in #black6 years ago (edited)

The statue of an angel was created from 100,000 knives, and its production took 2 years. The author of the creation was Alfie Radley-an artist from the UK. As for the material for the manufacture of crafts, it is not quite ordinary kitchen or collection knives. The statue of the angel was created from knives that were previously used by criminals to commit violent crimes. Some knives were obtained from the British center for Metalworking Shropshire (UK), initiating the creation of the program "Save a life, hand over your knife."

Angel creation process

Alfie says that many of the knives that were handed to him, had traces of blood.

After cleansing from the remnants of biological material knives were involved in the work to create a statue of an angel — a symbol of reconciliation and forgiveness.

Alfie was invited to participate in the project the relatives of the victims from knife people. So, those whose relatives or friends tragically died at the hands of criminals, could engrave messages on knives. Among those who wished to participate in the creation of the angel, there were many repentant criminals.

You can pay attention to the fact that the hands of the statue, do not have sharp parts, and all because Alfie carefully smoothed the edges of the knives with a grinding machine.

So that was the process of working on the creation of the statue.

As soon as the angel was made, Alfie asked the Government to place the statue on Trafalgar square. However, the artist was refused, because the Government believed that such a creation and the idea of its creation will expose the Monarchy in an unsightly light. However, Alfie does not lose hope that all residents and guests of London will be able to see the angel of the knives, so the artist posted a petition on the site change.org ahhh! The document has already gained 9 thousand signatures out of 10 required.
