I don't know why.
Sure. There's inherent value in the platform, in the vision, in the applications and in the potential it holds.
But what is causing a sudden 20% uptick in the market value of them?
Is it the news relating to the vest changes coming in november?
Has the 10% uptick on Steem awoken all the bitshares holders, do they see blood in the water?
It seems like a good purchase
It's chronically undervalued after the constant downward pressure - a market cap well below 20M USD seems a steal. But which timeframe are we looking? Are the near future events already priced into the markets and their movers? These are important questions to ask ourselves before we commit our money to where our mouths are. Some of you may have time on your side. You can happily wait 2 years for your bitshares to rise from the downtrends like a phoenix. Others are on the prowl for a Steemit gamechanger like the weeks after July 4th. And that makes perfect sense.I'm personally tempted to add 5% of my portfolio into it
I've missed out on the big Monero train for some quick gains, and I feel that is currently in the phase of 'buy the rumour, sell the news'. Once the actual news of Monero adoption on the deepweb turns into reality, my bets are on it being more like a deflating balloon than a bomb of commerce and activity. On the long term, it's still mired down as 'just another bitcoin spinoff'. Bitshares seems more stable and brings more functionality to the table - which makes it a more interesting purchase to play with. What do you think? Do you hold any Bitshares? Will you hold any, soon? Got any advice for me?
I'd love to hear it.
I know a lot of you bring a lot of wisdom regarding financial markets and crypto, so it'd be great to see some more discussions of that as in, say here and here
I can understand part of the increase is related to the Peerplays sharedrop, but all in all at the current market cap of Peerplays the 5% sharedrop is worth less than 1M$ (approximately 850k$ at this time).
So IMO there's definitely something more here than just the Peerplays sharedrop. But crypto markets usually like a good pump so I guess there's some of this also.
Since the PeerPlays and BTS market cap are about the same right now 5% of PeerPlays onto Bitshares is a 5% gain for any bitshares holder. Tell me you're not excited about a guaranteed 5% return and I'll call you a bloody fibber.
and that's not even including the fact that the major exchanges are exempt from the drop, which means more like a 6-8% return for all BTS holders. Pretty nice you might say.
Below a few cents BitShares is, IMO, a really good investment. I also thing we are about to see the market reach is true value. Right now, missconceptions and low understanding are part of the low price but it's changing.
The Peerplay sharedrop and the end of the dilution (in two months) are also pushing up the price.
This article is giving a quick recap on why the BitShares market cap is not much higher. You may enjoy the reading and it may help you decide whether or not buy sone more bts ;)

It could be due to peerplays sharedrop which will start on 1st Sept.

It's that
and BlockPay
and Nov. 5
finally the timing for BTS is right... these developers are terrrrrible at timing, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I'm not sure I agree with people arguing that it is the sharedrop doing this -- yes there is a sharedrop and i hope everything goes well with that but the bts ecosystem is al ot more than that.
I mean Blockpay is doing big things. They pretty much raised 500k (1/20 of the market cap of bts in a couple days) You just can't keep Ronny Boesing down. He is gonna be the man in 10 years at this rate. Bitland wants to do great admirable things.
Long live BTS! Love live the internet! LONG LIVE INFORMATION.
Long live democracy too. A lot of other chains out there don't have the consensus mechanism of BTS, they rely on PoW or an oligarchy of masternodes. We all need to remain vigilant not to let democracy weaken.
