A beach town in Australia, Agnes Water, is the first digital currency town to accept bitcoin in order to attract more tourists. Over 30 local businesses are accepting bitcoin, including ethereum, litecoin, bitcoin cash and EOS. According to CCN - Samburaj Das, the initiative began when local real estate agent Gordon Christian asked local merchants, who are openly welcoming the idea.
TravelbyBit, a Queensland-based crypto payments startup, processes these cryptocurrency payments for customers at Agnes Water. “We’ve got merchants all over Australia but they’re very sporadic,” TravelbyBit CEO Caleb Yeoh said. “[Agnes Water and] the Town of 1770 has the highest concentration.” Source: CCN - Samburaj Das
Australia is not new to cryptocurrencies as a payment option. Over 30 retail stores at Brisbane Airport also accepts bitcoin:
We're just trying to build a real world use case for cryptocurrency," Yeoh explained. "Bitcoin is perfect for travel, there's no exchange rate issues or risk of credit card fraud."

Other parts of the world for example, Solvenia, promotes bitcoin payment options to tourists. BTC City is a shopping complex in Solvenia with 500 retail stores that accepets bitcoin. The BTC company believes that “Bitcoin City will create an open society which will enable users to pursue their missions as well as develop their business environments in line with their wishes, needs, and operating policies.” Source: new.bitcoin - Kevin Helms
Traveling could be made easier without the need to change for foreign currencies or get charged hefty fees by credit card companies. Cryptocurrencies are changing that payment concept, bringing fuss free digital transactions to the tourism industry.
“If you travel around the world you have to deal with multiple currencies, the exchange rate can be confusing, sometimes you struggle to find ATMs, and sometimes you get swindled by money changers. Travelling with one global currency like Bitcoin … makes sense.” Yeoh said.

I am really surprised given Australia tends to be lagging somewhat when it pertains to new technology, however it seems our government is quite supportive of Crypto. Hopefully other governments follow suit.
Im glad to hear from Australia as well. This could help advance the country forward :)
Beware Fiat! Cryptos are taking over.
