While the crypto currency market continues to pass through the downstream market, btc futures trading seems to be booming.
A report from CME showed that btc futures trading rose 41% from the second quarter of 2018 to the third quarter.
As you can see, the chart shows tremendous growth from the second quarter to the fourth, indicating that this trend may continue.
The CME Group launched futures trading btc contracts in December of 2017. Its decision to launch this service has contributed to the rising value of these contracts, and has also contributed to later gains in the major btc currency and other alternative digital currencies.
According to a recent Bloomberg report, CME is not looking at expanding its futures contract to raise its price anytime soon. CME chief executive Terry Duffy said btc contracts were the most controversial product launched in a decade, reaffirming his position on including any alternative crypto currencies.
