Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency in existence. It is still the coin with the most recognition, highest adoption, highest market cap, and one of the highest daily volumes. This made it a natural choice to become the reserve currency as more and more altcoins entered the market. I think this trend should be changed because there are very good altcoins are present in the market that are better than bitcoin.
