Came across this video the other day and wanted to post it sooner but things got a bit crazy and most of my posts got voted in the negative. Hopefully, I can get back to sharing cool shit and doing some more tutorials.
I'm a big fan of Bitcoin, but I am also very jaded with the way things are going. It's almost impossible to use for anything but a large store of value due to the ever-increasing transaction fees and increased demand.
I'm not sure the lightning network is what we need to solve these problems and think larger blocks is one of the key solutions to the problem.
Either way, this is a fantastic video that explains what the Lightning network is and why it is not the solution.
How the banks bought Bitcoin
Lightning Network - Simply Explained
Another good video from a different angle that is worth watching.

is it just me, or does the first video make it seem like there is BTC conspiracy going on? BTC is becoming the new banking system. It's not really revolutionizing anything, it's just the next evolution in the banking system with the same regulations and centralization that we originally thought we were getting rid of. Or am I completely missing the point....
There is always conspiracy's going on, but it does a great job explaining it.
interesting comment,,, i need to watch the vid, but i hear where you are coming from. i think logically if there is only one crypto threat, it will be co-opted, that is why it will take a multitude of cryptos to revolutionize anything... and there are a multitude, but just what purpose/master will they serve?
Today @buildawhale you wait my SBD and not voted refund me my SBD

Great post @themarkymark it's inevitable the banks will try and get their share but in the long run fiat currencies will be slowly diluted anyway. I hope things start to look up for some of the smaller currencies out there with good projects on the go.
Lightning network?
Ohh that's crazy!
Why altcoins are growing more and more? Its because most or maybe some of those altcoins, correctly me if I'm wrong, want to solve what bitcoin couldn't solve. Maybe, I guess we have to consider and take some time studying those altcoins, not really all of course, there are plenty of them lol. We sometimes forgot to get out of the box. We focus much attention to bitcoin and maybe on ethereum or ripple. Those top 3 coins in my opinion are already in prison guarded by banks and financial institutions. Maybe try looking those privacy coins, anonymously private ones. Those coins that are really solving REAL problems for the common good.
Send back my five sbd you can see my transaction histry i send you and you not refund and not vot
Awesome
Good vid, you must have reasearched alot.
Keep it up!
Great youtube video - great content and well illustrated - thanks for sharing...
I personally like big blocks and the lightning network. I which i could have them both. However I believe off chain is the future.
I think bigger blocks are a must, I'm on the fence about the lightning network as it will be monopolized into a centralized system again.
Naw i disagree with you. I believe there's a limit to how big blocks can be. I also saw the lightning network can be more decentralized by a strict regulation protocol that lets all bitcoin pass and can't be blocked. Also anyone can run a LN node and it could be a way for nodes to earn money thus not reducing nodes. About the issue of their party well it not we are going to be running bitcoin nodes so we are all dependent on their party from the start. And also third will be mini block explorers for the LN broadcasted by nodes. Is it the best no, is a way to go in the future i believe so. Big blocks are not the full solution again I personally like big blocks and the lightning network both. Big blocks if you want full transparency for exp big transactions for the fees won't be much different than using LN and small microtransaction for LN.
I really don't know what Bitcoin was , but thank you sir for this short information about banks connected to bitcoin ! New learning for this day.
How are you in crypto without knowing what bitcoin is? Not trying to be mean but bitcoin is honestly the most well known crypto! And the fact is it a conspiracy theory that banks connected to bitcoin. Lightning Network is a game changer but it does have some cons that some people do not like. It up to you to decide. Do not depend on one guy, research for both sides. And you might support both solution aka big blocks and LN like me :)
Ahah right?
I am new on here sir , i am still on the process of learning what bitcoin, crypto and how do they process it. In fact , i joined steemit just yesterday. This world is new for me , but thanks again sir for giving your thoughts.
Here a site directory explaining bitcoin topics: https://cryptoinformationgiver.xyz/category/understanding-bitcoins/

Coolness - videos like these are good to circulate, helps keep us all up to speed on the evolution of Bitcoin.
"But it's okay, because we're going to the mooooon"
I did NOT expect that ending!
Two very informative videos though. Thanks for sharing ^^
Great video explaining the lightning network. Personally, I think that this network has a far more centralised feel to it - I agree that larger block sizes would be useful and help to solve the problem!
Great @themarkymark i'm trying do the same in spanish for my people in Venezuela, good one!
thanks por share.. Interesting.. Keep the good work!!
Hmmm, it's seeming through my limited prism of knowledge that bitcoin is not the future, that it's just a symbol and not really solving any long-term economic issues. Seems like there eventually will be a whole consortium of many cryptos doing many different things, obviously that is the picture that is forming now... I just don't know what kind of place if any bitcoin will have.
Myself, I'm not so sure about the Lightning Network. I fear it will give power and control to the "Big Banks". I am going to need to do more research on LN.
@ronel is right... there are a lot of coins with the potential to cover up Bitcoin's flaws. Let's face it, it's 10 year old technology.
Fork it or not, it is limited and surpassed.
I only concern will it make the price of btc increasing.
Yeah, Bitcoin has the greatest market cap., for now. However, there are several better options for fast, cheap (even free) cryptocurrencies.
Many people do believe that Bitcoin was nothing more than a way for them to get everyone onboard with digital money.
Big money always messes up everything.
GREED, POWER, and CORRUPTION!
You didn't actually think that they'd give up control that easily...did you?
👍👍👍💎
I have sent 3sbd to 3url before you change the minium, i want to refund. thank you
Sent 3SBD, please use 2+ SBD to bid in the future. Please keep support requests on our Discord or in @buildawhale posts.
Been waiting for lighting network for a while now expecting it to solve the transaction speed issues (atleast temporarily). Just off to watch your video now to get a better understanding of this.. Thanks for the post.
While i like the idea behind bitcoin how can i use it if the price moves up and down so much? I don't want to buy a coffee and in few days that coffee costing me 30EU.
