Coinmarketcap launched in 2013 and cryptocurrencies as well as the interest in them have grown significantly since then. In 2013, they were tracking only seven cryptocurrencies on a handful of exchanges with a total market cap of only about $1.7 billion.

Currently there are over 1,800 cryptocurrencies with a market cap of $214 billion and over 210 exchanges. According to earlier data collected this year, Coinmarketcap was the 174th most visited website according to Amazon's Alexa with over 60 million visits at this time. It seems that there is still plenty of room for growth and that this market is still very new.

Coinmarketcap also recently recreated their logo to show the ups and downs in the crypto market, and I barely even noticed the logo change at first. Coinmarketcap currently has over 460k followers on their Twitter account. Also, Coinmarketcap has an IOS app where you can add cryptos to your watchlist to easily see the most relevant data to you.

It's important to understand if you're getting accurate information about the cryptos you want to invest in as Coinmarketcap has gotten a few things wrong at times. However, they are still the most reliable source of crypto prices and new coin listings as far as I know, and its good to be able to see them they change their logo or update their UI/UX interface as we want them to continue to provide us with accurate and reliable data.

Coinmarkcap is really a useful website for all crypto fans.

Coinmarketcap is an actual gold mine of a website. Does one thing and one thing very well.

Yeah and that's good enough.

rekt man rekt!!!

Crazy to hear CMC has been around for so long! And yet we're still at the very beginning of the crypto journey.

"Coinmarketcap also recently recreated their logo to show the ups and downs in the crypto market"

I don't understand that part, how exactly does the logo show the ups and downs in crypto market?

Yeah, good question. If you take a close look at the logo for CMC you can see that the logo has ups and downs like lines on a graph to show that the crypto market changes in cycles. Does that help?

Oh now i see the M is like a wave

Surprise to know that it has been in the market for so long.

I love your articles @the4thmusketeer however this statement: "they are still the most reliable source of crypto prices and new coin listings" is far from true. CMC does not publish their listing criteria and does not reason whether it is listing a coin or not. Considering their power and reputation in the cryptoworld, this is unfair and agressive whale practice. To nurture a whale that decides on its own what to list and what not to list based on nonexistent or hidden criteria is the worst what could happen to the vision of true decentralization.

Coinmarketcap is a great site! First thing I check in the morning!

Coinmarketcap is probably the most visited website in the crypto space. I find it very useful to regularly get updates about price movements and trending tokens.

Everyday I wake up and go straight to CMC, given the way the market has been trading lately, it usually ends up with me in tears!
