Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, exploded in criticism of the anonymity of cryptographic coins like Bitcoin, saying the use of this digital form of death has caused death.
The second richest man in the world joined an AMA at Reddit on a Tuesday in which he was asked for his opinion about the cryptographic currency.
Bitcoin has risen in popularity last year and Bitcoin's price surpassed $ 20,000 in December.
One of the reasons people like Bitcoin is the anonymity that guarantees their holders. Use decentralized technology to secure payments and save money without having to need banks and people names.
While viewed as a positive aspect by many technologists, for Gates this is its dark side.

"The government's power to detect money laundering, fiscal evasion and terrorist financing is a good thing," Gates said.

He added that the cryptographic currency can be used to buy drugs and weapons online and in a direct way has been the cause of deaths.

"Currently the coin is being used to buy Fentanyl and other drugs that have caused death. I also believe that the wave of speculations about ICOs and cryptocurrencyes is super dangerous, "Gates said.

In 2015 he praised the technology behind it.

Bank robbers escape easier with a getaway car but does that mean we should stop using cars and go back to horses? I wonder how many criminals have used Windows while doing their money laundering, fiscal evasion and terrorist financing? Should that be banned because criminals use it? All of theses things happened before cryptocurrency was invented. I think governments and banks could do a lot more to stop the criminals but that's a separate issue to cryptocurrency.
