I could see the US developing their own crypto, run on their own servers (centralized, not decentralized), and trying to outlaw any competing cryptocurrencies. That would give them automatic tracking of every expenditure, cut down on costs, and allow the ability to instantly freeze anyone's "currency" whenever they wanted.
