It is possible that it is stuck in the mempool if you had a really low fee but after 5 days i would think it should have been dropped by now.
Given you do not have a TXID or record it makes it hard but depending on your situation you should be able to go to your online exchanges that you sent the BTC from (to your exodus wallet) and follow the transactions from there.

When you track it from the exchange the TX will either be part of the 5,000 that is remaining in your wallet and marked as unspent or it will have formed part of the new TX that was sent to Shapeshift. You should be able to get hold of a TXID for the TX to Shapeshift and then check the status which would give more light to the situation.
