A big boost for Blockchain - Biggest IT giant getting into it!!

Well, the days are not far when we are going to witness a huge boost in Blockchain technology and it will soon be getting adopted by masses includes individual investors, institutional investors, corporate giants and soon in a decade's time; almost every human being present on earth.

TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) COO (Chief Operating Officer) Mr. N. Ganapathy Subramaniam strongly believes that 2018-19 will be the year of blockchain as TCS is eyeing $200 mn in revenue from Blockchain in FY19 as FY19 will be the year of blockchain adoption by the largest banks and stock exchanges.

Going digital is the main agenda being clearly backed by TCS and they're really upto fulfilling this task. TCS first put its weight behind blockchain two years back when it first started to work on BaNCS based on the underlying technology behind Bitcoin.

“Yes, I believe so as there is an opportunity and we are very-very focused on it,” Subramaniam said when asked if the company’s blockchain practice can become a $200-300 million business by the end of March 2019.

Some analysts, for now, remain sceptical on TCS’s claims on scaling business from blockchain.

“Yes, TCS has pool of skilled blockchain resources and a strong partnership ecosystem with emerging blockchain companies, platforms, consortia and academia under COIN (Co-Innovation Network). It also has technology agnostic approach, where it is following a multiplatform (Ethereum, Ripple) strategy for its clients engagements but no way can the company can get it to $200 million. The entire blockchain services market will be less than $1billion this year and TCS does not command 20% of it,” said Phil Fersht, chief executive officer of US-based HfS Research, an outsourcing research firm.
