Some banks and countries seem to be accepting that bitcoin is here to stay.
Therefore they are actively trying to accomodate this new money into the existing model. Others decline this idea and state that cryptocurrencies are not important and are nothing to worry about. Well... the truth is they keep talking about them... constantly. Some people are more visible than others, status is a big thing nowadays and it's easy for a CEO of a big bank to express his opinion (or work his agenda) on TV.
Yesterday, JPMorgan Chase chief executive Jamie Dimon said "Bitcoin is a fraud" among other hilarious things. The man is not know for being a genious so perhaps he is aware of what is happening and is just trying to fight back. Perhaps he feels his party is over. IMO this is the best advertising bitcoin could have. Most people who don't know or understand bitcoin will think his words make sense and those are the ones I'm worried about. In time, more and more people will embrace the movement but unfortunately... we can't save them all!
On a newspaper comment section:
user 1 - "Jamie Dimon is right about one thing. What supports the value of these coins are mostly illegal transactions"
user 2 - "He works with money. He know what he's talking about. I don't use bitcoin because I don't want to be seen as a criminal"
user 3 - "He's right. Some geeks invented money from nothing and people are buying it!"
