With the significant increase in altcoins at the end of 2017 people started to disrespect bitcoin. The reality is Bitcoin has proven to be the most resilient and battle-tested cryptocurrency and its use-case has been put into practice for many years now. This is something that virtually all altcoins have yet to accomplish.

While I am personally long a number of altcoins, Bitcoin's success is paramount to the adoption of cryptocurrencies. If altcoins are to flourish they will only do so if people have faith in the most dominant cryptocurrency; Bitcoin.

It doesn't have to be a zero sum game re; Bitcoin & Alts. There is more than enough market for both co-exist, the quicker people embrace this the quicker the market can move forward as a whole
