I think we're going to see more of the same, honestly.By this I mean that there will be spikes, drops, consolidations, and eventually more ups in the long run. This will continue because what is happening overall is that humanity is shifting value from fiat to crypto currencies, this is the trend that will continue and accelerate. Eventually we'll reach a point of equilibrium, somewhat, when all the value is in crypto, when fiat currencies die.

I agree with you, but what is to stop governments from creating their own state backed cryptos? Why would they let public cryptos like we currently have take power away from them if they don't have to?

Hopefully people wouldn't support such a thing, but if a state run crypto took off, or if a government simply took over an existing crypto, couldn't there still be a split or a fork where a new one is created from it or something like that?
