I have noticed the same idea of bitcoin having no value, and being backed by nothing on the posts I have made supporting the cryptocurrency. It's disheartening to say the least to see so many negative Nancys and naysayers who want to bash cryptocurrencies at the drop of a hat. I have noted the issues recently with unconfirmed transactions, and have heard plenty of conspiracy theories, however I don't think they hold much weight considering how valuable so many people have found btc to be. Earlier yesterday I read where some fella had paid off his student loans, which to me is promising. Perhaps I'm optimistic but I truly see bitcoin making the most of it long term. It has thus far and I'm sure it will continue despite any confusion.
